Pineapples and Swingers

So, you know its a thing when The New York Times runs a story.

https://nypost.com/2022/06/01/upside-pineapple-explained-tiktok-exposes-swinger-sex-trend/

Wrong Song

So I mentioned a Busta Rhymes Janet Jackson song called “Give it to me” that was the wrong song title. The song is “What’s It Gonna Be?!”. Such a great song! This gave me a reason to listen to it. But keep note that the weird angles and vibrant colours are the things that made this pop into my head not the bad CGI or tiny Bustas raining into Ms. Jackson’s cleavage.

This also gives me an excuse to post some 90s Janet

Halle Berry Movie

The movie I was thinking of was the Spike Lee joint “Jungle Fever”

Aged Steaks

Most steaks are aged to about 60 days but you can get aged ste aks that are 15 years old that can cost $3200. That is some expensive old meet.

Arnold Schwarzenegger in Toronto

My copy of The Monster Squad

My First Email Address

So I misspoke. I was thinking about it and I remember having my email really early, earlier than anyone I knew besides my immediate family, and I had it mainly because I had a pen pal. We switched to email and that would more likely have been in 92 or 93. So around the same time Adam got his first email address.

Russian Time Zones

Adam was correct, Russia does have 11 time zones going from Kaliningrad Time (UTC+02:00) to Kamchatka Time (UTC+12:00)

Men in Black Comic Book

Well, looking into this I can see why I never read one of these. Its full run is a whopping 6 issues that was published in 1990-1991. This was just before my foray into comic nerdom so I would never have come across them in a comic book store. From what is in the Wiki it does look like it was pretty serious. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Men_in_Black_(comics)

Black Mirror Episode

The episode is “Fifteen Million Merits” in series 1 episode 2.

DS9 Thing I couldn’t remember

It was the “Bell Riots”! This was much sooner than I said, it is supposed to start on September 1st 2024. Just under 2 years from now.

Mispronunciations

The name I was trying to say was “Zaphod Beeblebrox”. It is a mouthful.

The Hated movie

I realize we didn’t actually say the whole name of the movie: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Lawnmower Man 2

I have no words to describe it. So here is the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MubmJ2jwvOM

Reboot

The new reboot show is called “Reboot: The Guardian Code” but lets ignore that. Here is the first episode of the original show. Is it the greatest episode of TV ever? No, but it still looks better that Lawnmower Man and it was the start of something great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1pc6teZGnw

Tremors

There are…wait for it….7 Tremors movies. The most recent one was released in 2020.

Jose Chung

From my favourite tv show, The X-Files. Here is a clip for reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAU0guS0hUc

Persephone

So, Persephone was married to Hades, her uncle (ew), after he kidnapped her and forced her to marry. It was later found out that the union was approved by her father, Zeus (ew). Persephone was kept in the underworld until her mother, Demeter, caused a famine and and Zeus demanded her release. Then a deal was made that she would split her time between worlds. This is what I gleaned from the wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persephone

Here’s the Tea Party song

Sherly Bassey did 3 (of the best) Bond themes Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, and Moonraker. Don’t worry I didn’t forget about Golden Eye, Tina is my girl. There are only s few, what I would call, bad themes in the series. Also, here’s the A-ha one we talked about. I did not do it justice.

The Matrix (TV Show)

Here’s the Wiki, it does not provide that much info. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_(TV_series)

Movies we tried to figure out

WW3

Ok I was kinda off but technically right. In Star Trek WW3 starts in 2026 (That is just 4 years away!!!) and ends in 2053. I said 2050 so I am counting that as being correct.

George Jetson

Apparently George Jetson was born on July 31, 2022.

Radiohead

The song is not called “You do it to yourself” it is called “Just”. It was released in 1995 on their album The Bends. If you don’t know this song you have missed out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIFLtNYI3Ls

Also here is “Paranoid Android” off of OK Computer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHiGbolFFGw
