Welcome to Off the Beaten Clef! We are excited to start 2023 off with Jaded January- our look at the beginnings of emo and chronologically going through the waves of the subgenre. Each week will cover a new wave of emo, all the way to the current day. We start this week by going to the humble beginnings of emo in Washington D.C. in the 1980’s, and work our way through 1999.
Next week we shall cover the third wave of emo, spanning from 2000-2009. Follow us on social media and submit your picks for next week (or what was left off this week)!
