This week was a little bit dry as key injuries keep piling up and "load management" situations are becoming abundant - so with Warner Bros. releasing the full trailer of Space Jam 2, that gives us a good discussion for this episode. We also discuss on how the Jazz are still rolling and how why they are still on the top of the standings. For our look back on history, we go way back as we discuss some former champions and some interesting milestones by some iconic individuals.
On this episode we get a recap of our updated MVP ladder after all the injuries happening around the league involving some of the MVP ladder contenders. We also dive in to the aftermath of a very low-key yet interesting trade deadline. Lastly we look back at MJ's highest scoring game - his 69 points against the forever underdog of the 90's. the Cleveland Cavaliers.
We have a few days before the trade deadline and we discuss the possible moves that would and should happen for some teams - who should pull their triggers and who should not overreact. Halfway thru the season and we give out our mid season awards; and for our *On This Day* we look back at the bone crushing poster dunk by Lebron on Jason Terry back in 2013.
As we approach the halfway through our 2020-21 season we check out the standings for each conference and discuss our surprise teams and disappointments, also with a little lookback at our first day standing picks. The ASG lineup has been drafted and made, but our OTB hosts have their own re-draft and will have a wager - fantasy style and see who wins post ASG. Lastly we look back at some memorable trade deadline transactions a few years back.
This episode fills in for the"lost episode" we should have had last week (we apologize for that). This week we discuss the upcoming All Star Game lineups and how it would shape up - will it live up to the hype? or not? Also we discuss the Brooklyn Nets' recent success and how they can keep things rolling. Lastly we look back on Melo's home coming to New York back in 2011 - one of the biggest blockbuster trades we had in the past decade.
After 10 episodes produced, we decided to spice things up a little by adding more recurring segments to our show, such as "Guess The Stat", "Weekly Wager", and an old segment "This or That". Along with these segments we discussed the upcoming plans for the All Star Game having a dunk contest at halftime. We also looked back at some of our picks for the regular season awards we made during the first episode. Lastly, for our ending segment we reminisce some moments in the NBA with "On This Week" where we throw it back during one of the quickest peak points of an individual player in the league: Linsanity.
Undrafted and unfazed, Fred VanVleet of the Raptors showed that stars could come from humble beginnings such as going undrafted by dropping 54 points against the Orlando Magic surpassing Moses Malone's record of 53 (highest by an undrafted player). We also discuss this season's first Rookies & Coaches of the month, who's up and who's not. We then visit that notable game in Atlanta against the Lakers where we Lebron had an exchange of words but not with a player but rather a fan. Lastly, after all the rumors going around, Bradley Beal states he wants to stay and prove to us fans that loyalty still exists in this generation's league of basketball.
On our lucky 9th episode we felt lucky to hear that an All Star Game could happen after the commissioner opened the voting polls, and with that, OTB locked in their early picks for the East and the West. This week was also a week to remember as this time last year we lost one of the best players to ever play the sport, Kobe Bean Bryant - Patch & Drew share their Kobe-inspired stories. We cap off the episode by discussing players that are being rumored to be moved as our trade deadline is less than 60 days away.
For this episode the drama continues but for the first time it is not with James Harden nor the Brooklyn Nets, it's with Cleveland's KPJ aka the new JR Smith? We then dive in to the early MVP ladder lineup discuss our surprise candidates and usual suspects. Then back to Cleveland and their goal to push #SexLand a thing, are they legit? are they the new mean team in the East. Also we dive in to the collateral damage of that Harden trade, mainly on the Sixers - if they had any regrets on not pulling the trigger for the 8-time All-Star James Harden. Lastly, what is an OTB episode without another Harden/Nets drama?
Getting to Episode 7 felt like we had to invite one of our college buddies Adrian to join us on our show and discuss a very dramatic second week of 2021. We start off by grading the rookies and who fits well so far, then we dive in on some early predictions on who to move around and target this upcoming trade deadline. The drama begins with James Harden's bad breakup with the Rockets as he joins the reality show in the making, the Brooklyn Nets. We then cap off our board with Kyrie's disappearance and secret parties.
