From working 3rd shift at Sam’s Club to 2 Super Bowl rings, Baltimore Raven Anthony Levine and his trainer/mentor/friend Coach Derrick Speas pull up to the table with Sheriff Kimbrough. The 3 discuss Coach Speas’ invaluable role in Levine’s professional and personal life, their individual and combined commitment to helping children believe in themselves and their dreams, and what life is like as an elite athlete and coach.

Sgt Dwayne Little,  the well-known ever-smiling face of our Community Outreach Unit, joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table. The two discuss the importance of community outreach – it’s not just about handing out stickers to children but about constantly creating and strengthening relationships throughout our entire community.

Talitha Vickers from WXII 12 News joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table for a raw conversation about race and current events. “I feel like we have a very deep wound that needs attention because we keep putting bandaids on it instead of giving it the attention it actually needs.”

Joshua Black, a Winston-Salem native, is passionate about effective leadership. Josh joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table to discuss the events sparked by the death of George Floyd, his role in organizing recent protests, and what he is doing to bring about the change he wants to see in our community and in our nation.

L. Todd Burke, Senior Resident Superior Court Judge for the 21st District, joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table. A recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, Judge Burke discuses his professional experiences as well as his recent personal experience of the death of his mother, the notable Vivian L. Burke.

DJ Harris and IV Daniels, seniors at Carver High School and West Forsyth High School respectively, come to the table to discuss their experiences with Sheriff Kimbrough. What it means to not have a graduation ceremony, their plans for the future, the pros and cons of social media, and what they would change if they had the power to make any change in Forsyth County.

“Detention is law enforcement as well… it isn’t second best or bottom of the totem pole. It’s just law enforcement behind-the-scenes, something most of the public never sees or encounters.” Detention Officer Jessica Sturkie joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table as we celebrate National Correctional Officers Week.

You probably recognize Dr. Christopher Ohl from the multiple media briefings or maybe even the billboards. As an Infectious Disease Specialist at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, he has become the voice and face of the local medical community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Ohl joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table for an in-depth discussion on his career and his thoughts on our current situation.

Professional Bull Rider Ezekiel Mitchell is currently ranked 23rd in the world by the PBR. Ezekiel joins Sheriff Kimbrough at the table to discuss how it has always been his dream to be a cowboy, but he didn’t want to just make ends meet – he had big dreams. He wears his cowboy hat everywhere he goes, and if people stare or have opinions, he simply shrugs and says: “Why would I care what you have to say about me? Look at yourself. Is that you really want to be? Because this is who I want to be.”

Dispatchers are the first first-responders on-scene, the lifeline to our officers, yet they are always heard and rarely seen.

Our Communications Manager, Ashley Conrad, comes to the table to discuss all things dispatch for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Chief Deputy Rocky Joyner takes Sheriff Kimbrough’s place at the table as they discuss the highlights and heartbreaks of being a telecommunicator.
