Breaking developments in the energy world may be coming from a surprising source: lemons.
In this special LMN report, Kaden covers the rapidly emerging citrus energy industry following a recent investigation by the Lemon Media Network (LMN) into entrepreneur Jason V. Cohen and his California startup Lemon Energy. After a historic lemon surplus caused the citrus market to crash, Cohen proposed a radical idea—what if lemons could become the next great energy resource?
From consumer lemon batteries and citrus-powered vehicles to massive residential lemons and experimental nuclear-scale lemon power plants, Cohen’s company claims it can transform one of agriculture’s most overproduced fruits into a scalable renewable energy system.
But critics warn that the rapidly expanding lemon empire may reach far beyond energy, with projects ranging from lemon streaming platforms to plans for sending the first lemon into space.
Is this the beginning of the Electric Citrus Revolution, or simply the strangest chapter in energy history?
LMN’s full investigation explores the science, the economics, and the surprisingly sour future of power.

Episode 42 might sound familiar to science-fiction fans. In The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a supercomputer spends millions of years calculating the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything… and the answer is 42. The only problem? Nobody actually knows what the question was.
So in this episode, Kaden attempts to tackle that question anyway—through the lens of energy.
Starting with life, the conversation explores how organisms capture and use energy, from sunlight and photosynthesis to food chains and biological survival. Then the discussion zooms out to the universe, touching on stars, fusion inside the Sun, the Big Bang, antimatter, and the strange microwave glow left over from the birth of the cosmos. Finally, everything gets tied together with the big ideas of physics that govern how energy moves through the world around us.
Along the way, things get slightly… chaotic. Some nobody joins the recording, arguments break out about dolphins, orcas, and mice being the smartest animals, and the conversation wanders through robots that pass butter, depressed androids, and whether a 14-year-old recording in his bedroom can realistically explain the meaning of the universe.
The result is a mix of science, curiosity, and a lot of very questionable philosophical reasoning—all orbiting around one simple idea:
If life runs on energy…
maybe the story of the universe does too.

Is a “Crack Spread” just industry nonsense, or the most important number in your refinery?
In this episode of Refining Reality, hosts Bill and Brian Pieri strip away the jargon to explain the fundamental heartbeat of the oil and gas downstream sector. Recorded on March 23, 2026, amidst historic market volatility following U.S. and Israeli actions in Iran, the team dives into why refining margins have skyrocketed past $50/MMBtu.
Inside this episode:
The 3-2-1 Formula: Brian breaks down the “back of the envelope” math—three barrels of crude vs. two barrels of gasoline and one barrel of diesel.
Refinery Gain Explained: How 42 gallons of crude can expand into 44 gallons of product and why “condensed energy” is the key to understanding your output.
Volatility as Opportunity: A look at how Middle East turmoil is currently impacting RBOB and diesel pricing, and why refineries often see expanded profitability during global uncertainty.
Optimizing the Spread: Why all crude is NOT created equal. We discuss how different grades impact your gross operating profit.
Special Thanks to our Sponsor, Tracerco: We explore how Tracerco’s global leadership in process diagnostics helps engineers benchmark operations in real-time, catching issues before they lead to costly shutdowns.

In this episode of the Mining and Minerals Show, Deirdra Tindale explores a shift in the mining sector as Indigenous nations move from being project stakeholders to sophisticated equity owners. She sits down with both Mark Podlasly, Chief Executive Officer of the First Nations Major Projects Coalition (FNMPC), and Kody Penner, Vice President of Corporate Development at Nations Royalty.
Mark Podlasly discusses Canadian resource development, where Indigenous nations are transitioning from recipients of grants to high-level co-investors. He details how the FNMPC is helping nations leverage new federal and provincial loan guarantees to secure equity stakes in the country’s most significant energy and mining projects.
Kody Penner discusses Indigenous economic participation through Canada’s largest majority Indigenous-owned public company. Drawing on his experience, Kody explains how pooling mining royalties into a public vehicle allows Indigenous groups to monetize future payments and diversify their wealth today. He discusses the power of “risk capital” and how stronger, more sovereign Indigenous balance sheets are fundamentally changing the relationship between mining CEOs and the communities where they operate.
