In this episode you will meet my good friend Lyer in Ridgeway, Ontario Canada. Lyer tells us about his self destructive sexual behaviors that came along with his drinking and drugging habits that would leave him with shame and remorse, yet he would continually find himself drinking or drugging again and again and how one day he attempted to end it all. 

He describes two different time frames in his life one as an alcoholic and years later with an opioid addiction after a car accident and initially being prescribed these pain meds from the doc that woke his addiction.

He details his personal experiences both in his active addiction and how wonderful his life is now in recovery. He shares what is working for him and how he continues to stay clean and sober today.

Lyer is a longtime friend of mine who I share a lot of history with. We have been room mates a couple times over the years in our drinking careers and after our friendship drifted apart for many years we reunited in recovery. Another beautiful gift of sobriety!

" Once you are a pickle you can never go back to being a cucumber"  And so it is with alcoholics and addicts, once we have crossed that line we can never return to drinking like a "normie".
