  • Eppy 164: Rage Bait

Happy News: Laura saw Micky Dolenz perform at Lakeside Ohio recently. 82 years old and doing great! Boomers-do you remember the "Monkees" on TV, circa 1965?! What a fun show! And we can still sing the tunes!

Boomers love riding in golf carts- especially when they are not on a golf course! There are so many adorable villages near Lake Erie.  Boomer Jean loves to drive her golf cart on Put-In-Bay and Laura tools around Lakeside in her 6-seater golf cart in Lakeside!Girl Grip: Carrying necessities such as your phone, lip gloss, water bottle, keys in one hand. (That would be pretty hard for a Boomer to do!)

Rage Bait: Pranking. Online content intentionally designed to provoke anger or outrage. Creators use it to manipulate users into engaging, which boosts algorithms and generates ad revenue. How  it works: misleading headlines, trolling, deliberately doing something incorrectly to prompt thousands of angry, corrective comments. Officially named the Word of the Year by Oxford University Press.

Ok Boomers- do we care about this at all- is the whole world crazy???

Real Talk. Real Love. Real Fun.

  • Eppy 162: From Sea to Shining Sea
Laura is back from her Viking River Cruise from Paris to Normandy, and she's bringing home plenty of stories! The cruise hosted 158 passengers, mostly Boomers, including a church friend Laura hadn't seen since high school.

The trip was relaxing, the food was excellent, and Laura quickly embraced French culture with a cheerful "Bonjour!"—while learning that you're only supposed to say it once per day to the same person. After dinner each evening, Laura became a fixture in the ship's lounge. While she insists the lounge sometimes felt a bit like a nursing home, that didn't stop her from staying until closing time every night. (To be fair, closing time was 10 PM.)We also discuss one of the most important topics for women travelers everywhere: bathrooms.

Laura was astonished to discover how many restrooms in Paris are unisex, leading to several memorable moments during the trip.Plus, Laura asked a French tour guide what the French really think about Americans. The answer may surprise you.

Then we turn our attention homeward as America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday. From small-town parades and fireworks to family traditions and gratitude for our nation, we're excited about the upcoming July 4th celebrations.Join us for travel stories, sister laughs, patriotic memories, and a celebration of the people and places that make America special.

  • Eppy 161: Our Brains
Welcome to Eppy 161 of the OK Boomer Podcast — Our Brains!Laura returns home from Paris exhausted, jet-lagged, and occasionally speaking French for no apparent reason, while Jean admits she spent the week tracking Laura's adventures through YouTube river cruise videos. That sparks memories of Jean studying in France at age 19 — writing letters on blue airmail paper, waiting hours for overseas phone calls, and bravely wandering into Paris alone long before cell phones existed.

Then things get very relatable...Jean misplaces her breakfast- why can't keep track of things any more? Laura reports that nobody at a recent party could remember names, and both sisters wonder what exactly is happening to their brains.Naturally, this somehow leads directly into discussing the Top 10 funeral songs. Yes, it really is a trend!
