  • The History of Baseball Cards

The origins of baseball cards date back to the 1800’s, when photographs of baseball players first appeared on collectible cards and eventually became a popular way for companies to advertise their products. What began as a simple promotional idea grew into an American pastime, with generations of fans collecting, trading, and cherishing pictures of their favorite players. In this episode we’ll explore the history of baseball cards, from their earliest beginnings in the 1800’s through the rise of an exciting hobby in the 1970’s. Part 2 will be a future episode where we will focus on the rise of this hobby into the multi billion dollar business that it is today.
