Followup Questions:

1.  Write down your “elevator speech” for Christ. This should be something you should be able to say smoothly and clearly in about 15 seconds. You should have this memorized verbatim. Peter’s Example: Acts 2:32 “This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.” Modern Example: I used to be selfish and full of anger. God healed me of that and gave me peace. I know Jesus is the Savior because he saved me from my sin of selfishness.

2.  Write down a fuller explanation of your witness of Christ as Savior. This is a follow-up to the elevator speech, if someone expresses interest in hearing more. You should be able to talk for a couple minutes (half a page written single spaced) about what God has done in your life that proves Jesus is Savior. Peter’s example: Acts 2:14-41.

Key Points:

1. There are different roles and levels of authority in the church. We need to clearly understand those roles in order to avoid being ensnared by false leaders.

2. God is sovereign over all things. That is a primary theme of Acts, and is particularly evident in this passage. But God’s sovereignty does not provide any excuse for sin or reprieve of personal responsibility.

3. The Holy Spirit is essential. He is the main character in the story of Acts, and he must be the main character in our church story as well.

Followup questions:

1. Is there a particular person or thing that I have given greater importance to than I should, elevating it above the Bible?

2. Am I making excuses for my sin?

3. How can I be filled by the Holy Spirit in each activity of the week?
