What happens when the career you worked so hard to build no longer looks the way you imagined? And what happens when God starts pushing you to build something of your own?
On this episode of Okay And? With Leah Henry, I'm sitting down with award-winning journalist, host, podcaster, and founder of Creatives of Faith, Gia Peppers, for an honest conversation about faith, career transitions, and navigating the changing landscape of Black media.
We're getting real about the challenges Black women face in the media industry, the impact of layoffs, the pressure to stay visible, and the financial lessons that often come with being a creative. Gia opens up about learning to share her journey while she's still figuring things out, why our gifts are bigger than the platforms we occupy, and how her faith inspired her to create a community that helps creatives grow spiritually and professionally.
We also talk about financial stewardship, redefining success, building beyond traditional career paths, and why waiting for someone else to recognize your value can keep you from walking in your purpose.
If you've ever questioned your next move, felt overlooked in your industry, or wondered whether it's too late to start over, this conversation is your reminder that you don't have to stay in one box, and your purpose doesn't disappear when a door closes.
Because sometimes rebuilding isn't starting over. It's becoming who you're called to be.

For over 7 years, I’ve been trying to make one interview happen: the Jonas Brothers.
After 10 years of working professionally in media, countless pitches, emails, connections, videos, and more than a few closed doors, it looked like this interview just wasn’t going to happen.
But I refused to let “no” be the end of the story.
In this special Okay, And… episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my Journey to Jonas — how this dream started, the setbacks along the way, what pushed me to keep going, the unexpected turns, and how I ultimately went from trying to get their attention to actually sitting down with the Jonas Brothers.
This is more than the story of an interview. It’s a story about persistence, betting on yourself, and what can happen when you keep going even when the door doesn’t seem to be opening.
Seven years in the making. Ten years into my career. One interview I refused to give up on.
Okay, And… we got the Jonas Brothers.

Well... it happened again.
After nearly two years of navigating unemployment, Leah Henry opens up about having the hours cut from the part-time job that had been helping her pay her bills. What started as another frustrating blow becomes a much bigger conversation about what this season of her life might actually be teaching her.
Leah gets honest about the reality of struggling financially while still showing up publicly, the pressure to look like you have it all together on social media, and the possibility that traditional media may no longer be where she's supposed to land.
But the biggest lesson she's taking from this season? Community.
Leah talks about what it really means to support one another when times are hard, from sharing information and opportunities to bartering goods and services, reposting someone's work, giving advice, helping with a project, or simply showing up. She challenges the idea that everything has to be monetized or put behind a paywall and asks a bigger question: What would happen if we treated each other's dreams like they belonged to the whole village?
And then, Leah gets personal.
In honor of PCOS Awareness Month, she shares her own experience being diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis, the symptoms she didn't realize were connected, years of feeling dismissed, and why advocating for your health and finding a doctor who listens can make such a difference.
This episode is about unemployment, but it's also about purpose. It's about pride, asking for help, giving help, betting on yourself, taking care of your body, and realizing that none of us are meant to figure everything out alone.
If you're struggling right now, Leah wants you to know: you're not the only one. And you don't have to do it by yourself.
Okay, And? Let's talk about it.
Okay, And? We're figuring it out together.

Okay And... We Went Viral '
Sometimes you break the internet. And sometimes you break the internet with somebody else!
Leah Henry sits down with Grammy-winning artist Durand Bernarr to talk about the viral moment that had the internet talking, what really happened behind the scenes, and why there’s still nothing but love on both sides.
But this conversation goes way beyond the viral clip. Leah and Durand discover just how much they have in common, from growing up as only children with older parents to their shared church roots, perfectionism, and the pressure that comes with being a forward-facing creative.
Durand opens up about the lessons his career has taught him, learning not to do everything alone, the importance of allowing people into his creative process, and the personal confidence he’s still working on when the lights aren't on. He also gets real about therapy, asking for help, and finally saying “Okay And” to perfectionism.
It's funny, vulnerable, faith-filled, and full of the kind of conversation that reminds you there’s always more behind the viral moment.
Because sometimes the internet sees the moment. Okay And? lets you see the person.

After more than a year away, Leah Henry is officially back—and she’s not pretending she has it all figured out.
In the Season 2 premiere of Okay, And? With Leah Henry, Leah gets brutally honest about why she walked away from the podcast in the first place. From being laid off and navigating unemployment for the first time in her life, to moving back home with her mom, questioning her relevance, watching her savings disappear, and feeling like she was failing at everything she touched, Leah opens up about a season of her life that looked very different behind the scenes than it did online.
But this episode isn’t just about losing a job or a podcast that didn’t perform the way she expected. It’s about what happens when the things you once used to measure success—career titles, virality, visibility, money, and other people’s validation—stop working. After stepping away from social media, taking time to pray, and eventually finding her way back to the DMV, Leah began asking a much bigger question: What does success actually mean to me now?
And just when she was ready to leave the podcast behind, someone reminded her of something she had forgotten: the content was good—she had just abandoned her audience.
Now, Leah is stepping back behind the mic knowing she could fail again. And for the first time, she’s okay with that.
This is a vulnerable conversation about fear, faith, unemployment, starting over, comparison, purpose, and finding the courage to try again when you’re not sure how the story ends.
Season 2 starts here. And Leah is figuring it out in real time.
In this special bonus episode of Okay And?, it’s all love, all gratitude.
Before we close out the season, Leah takes a moment to give flowers to the people who made this podcast possible. First, a huge thank you to Sean Anthony — whose push to create her own content was the spark behind it all. And to Larry Hawkins, CEO of Green Room 97, who served as director, camera tech, and production — this show wouldn’t exist without his dedication and talent behind the scenes.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible guests who brought their truth, insight, and vulnerability to each episode. You made every conversation richer, more powerful, and unforgettable.
And of course, to you — the listener, the sharer, the supporter — thank you. Whether you liked, downloaded, subscribed, posted, or simply pressed play, this passion project became something real because of your support. We’re just getting started. Until next season… Okay and!
