有關How~doing?的用法，之前我們也曾經看過How are you doing?(你好嗎?)的對話。在這裡，若是照字面上的意思直譯，就會變成「鮑比在學校是怎樣一個情況呢?」，意思也就是「他在學校的成績怎樣?」。
若用在上班族身上，就要說:
How is Bobby doing at the office?
(鮑比在公司的表現好不好?)
從這裡我們可以了解到，雖然是相同的慣用語，可是隨著狀況或場合的不同，意思也會不同。
one of the best students 意為「最好的學生中的一個」，「one of the +最高級」這種說法在英語裡很常見，類似的例句如下:
Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world.
(東京是世界上最大的都市之一。)
This is one of the most expensive hotels in town.
