Oklahoma Wide Receiver Isaiah Sategna joins the show as we recap the Sooners 41-13 defeat against Georgia. The OU pass catcher goes over the headspace of the team as they head in to the bye week before taking on Texas, as well as what this offense needs to do to find more success. Josh also joins Eddie and Parker as the guys look back at the loss from every angle. If John Mateer's 3 turnovers weren't enough to bench him, then what will it take? Is it Whitt Newbauer season? The offensive line has season zero improvement, is that unit fixable? Finally, the defense went toe-to-toe with the Bulldogs, but it wasn't enough. Will this be another elite group that goes down in history as a "what if?" All that and more on this edition of the Gameday Rewind.
Now that everyone had Sunday to think about the game, it's time to revisit the Sooners 14-6 win over New Mexico. Honestly, it feels just as bad as it did on Saturday. Everyone wants to run the ball, but is the offensive line good enough to do so? New Mexico dared Oklahoma to throw the ball, yet the receivers couldn't make a difference? The tight ends do their part when it comes to receiving, but it was not their best day blocking. No matter where you look, the offense has very little to be proud of. On the other side of the ball, this defense has been incredible. It doesn't seem to matter where they are field position wise, they get the job done. It was enough to take down New Mexico, but can it be enough to leave Athens with a win? All that and more on this edition of the Gameday Rewind.
The weekend has come and gone and well, it is not a fun time to reside in Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners laid an egg in Ann Arbor on Saturday and boy...was there anything that looked good for this team? The answer is yes but unfortunately for you it was the punter. Is John Mateer may not be the quarterback everyone thought he could be? Or is this coaching staff not putting him in the best spots to succeed? Either way, the offensive side of the ball needs a fix and it needs it fast. The defense was good, but not good enough to make up for the lack of offensive production. It is safe to say this team has a long ways to go...and it better get their quick with Georgia and Texas on the horizon. All that and more on this edition of the Gameday Rewind.
The first full week of college football has come and gone and the Sooners have many reasons to be confident before heading into Ann Arbor. The OU offense saw everyone get involved, and wouldn't you know it, the tight ends did something! Noah Best made the start at center and it may be safe to say that at least for now, there isn't too much cause for concern. Isaiah Sategna had an electric night, while the running back room showed some signs of life. On the defensive side of the ball it may have been a shut out, but it didn't always feel that way. PJ Adebawore and Taylor Wein were causing havoc for the UTEP offensive line, and even Wyatt Gilmore got himself some attention late in the game. While it was a solid performance, the defense will need to get better with the upcoming schedule. All that and more on this edition of the Gameday Rewind.
