What lens do you view the history of Okoboji through? Mary Dreier after only living here for seven years, has a long lens as her family came here in the 19th Century. So her lens looks back on the early days of immigration from Europe to farm here. Even through hardships of Grasshoppers destroying all the crops for four straight years. So what is your family's connection to history in the Iowa Great Lakes? Every view through the lens is unique.

The final performing arts bands are close to wrapping up 2021 in November at the Pearson Lakes Art Center. Women of Action on Thursday's takes many directions. Meet Jezzika McKee, the mother of Samyuel who was born at 24 weeks of gestation. Jezzika's family has had many trials, fears and victories over Samyuel's 6 years on this Earth. She is here to tell a story of experiences some can relate to and others cannot. But as we acknowledge "Prematurity Awareness Month" in November and World Premature Day on Nov. 17, we can all agree it's a subject that deserves a conversation.

The desk of Judge Harry Nary has remained UNOPENED in Dickinson County Museum since 2004. Until recently when a group of museum visitors knew the secret to unlocking the drawers and secrets hidden within. Museum Director, Mary Dreier has just begun to examine documents & deeds from the 1800's expanding unknown stories from Dickinson County's past.

LF Williamz was a photographic pioneer in the early days of Okoboji tourism. Not only he capture the moments of history around 100 years ago, he used his craft to create postcards for early lake visitors to take home and share on a place called Okoboji. Historian/Author Jonathan Reed also points out LF Williams was a first to use a wide angle lens to show vivid views of landmarks we still know and incorporated the earliest shots of Okoboji from the air...in what's known as an AEROPLANE.
