From the innuendo to the explicit, we are bombarded with an invitation to accept a particular morality in this very personal area. Moses was concerned to establish a biblical ethic for the people of God. Does any of this remain for the church? Let’s explore this question boldly!

You’d think “Do not commit murder” would be an easy, readily embraced commandment, but we’re surrounded by so much killing in our world! What’s God’s heart behind this commandment, and how are we to live as kids in God’s kingdom?

Deuteronomy 5:16 & 16:18-20

God intends the role of parents as foundational to our society and especially to those of us who are followers of Jesus. This Sunday we continue to look at the human rights portions of the 10 Commandments. “Children, honour your parents!” What does it mean to “See Community As Family”? Deuteronomy 5 & 16

This Sunday we turn from looking at God’s rights to Human rights, as we consider the 10 Commandments. Many of us grew up thinking of the Sabbath commandment as a binding, restricting, kill-joy, when in fact it was an extraordinary gift of grace. You’d be welcome to read in advance Deuteronomy 5:12-15 & 16:1-17.

Deuteronomy 5:8, Deuteronomy 13

As we honour God’s right to be accurately represented (the 10 C’s as Israel’s charter of rights), how we speak matters, as does how we live. We’re going to look at the 3rd Commandment (Deuteronomy 5:8) this Sunday via Moses’ commentary in Deuteronomy 13. I’d invite you to read it.
