This Sunday we are continuing “on the road” with Jesus learning what it means to be His follower when we want to do what’s right. Dr. Luke describes what have become two famous incidents …Jesus encounter with a Lawyer and His telling of the Parable of the Good Samaritan, and Jesus dinner part with Mary & Martha …in both incidents there was a struggle to understand what the right action is. This is an invitation to give your holidays a spiritual focus. Why not invest 12 days this Christmas season and build or renew your practices of praying & reading scripture together as a family unit …whatever that configuration looks like for you. In the traditional church calendar the season of Advent includes the 4 Sundays before Christmas and Christmas Eve. December 25 then is marked as “the first day of Christmas”, through January 5 “the 12th day of Christmas” and January 6 is Epiphany, the day when the Wise men and their journey has often been remembered. We’ve created the following study to include Matthew 2 (the account of the Wise men/Magi) through Daniel 1-6 (Babylon or Persia is the probable home of these Magi) with a half chapter family reading and questions for each day.
