This Sunday, we're looking at how we observe Sabbath! From the beginning, God designed rest to satisfy a longing we often ignore, the kind of blessing that satisfies our chronically busy hearts. May we come ready to stop, consider how we prepare, and then delight in the Lord.

"Practice makes perfect"
"Everything we do is practice for something greater than we currently are."
"We in here talking about practice. I mean listen: we talkin' bout practice."

You've probably heard them all, and at one time or another you've been on the receiving end of some sort of pep talk about "practice." This Sunday isn't one of those, but we believe you will walk away with a desire to up your "practice" game when you think about how this practice shapes you.

How often do you hear someone say, "it's just for a season." In today's world, with 24/7 access to fast food, grocery stores, and the world at our fingertips, it's odd when you find someone living an "unhurried life." The breakneck pace of life doesn't have to be normal. And what if we could slow down enough to notice Jesus with us?

We've come to the end of the book of Colossians! As Paul wraps up his message to the new believers in Colosse, lets pay close attention to the care he takes to assure the church about their future and to remind them to keep trusting God's faithfulness. We can't wait to worship with you this weekend!

What would it take for us to be completely consumed with the message and hope of Christ? How could this transform the community we call church? And what does it require of us?

Much of the Old Testament is filled with the kinds of things that Jesus spent His time decluttering for His New Testament followers.When He leaves His earthly ministry, He leaves the disciples to carry the message even further and to continue to make clear the Love that God has for His creation and what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Chapter 2 of Colossians is Paul's continued attempts to remind us to stay connected to Christ.

The church wasn't some haphazard wish, Jesus wanted his disciple to be united in Him and through Him. This is clearly Paul's mission in writing to the church in Colosse - that through those bonds, believers would come to the full wisdom of who Christ is and what He has accomplished.

This week, Pastor Kevin is excited to jump into Chapter 2 of Colossians as we continue to hear Paul's heart for the church.

If you've ever received a home cooked meal, a note of encouragement, or had someone show up at just the moment of your greatest need, then you know the power of presence. Sometimes we think we need all the right words, but really it's more about letting God use you right where you're at. As we look at the last verses in chapter 1 of Colossians, Paul is making a clear case for the work of Christ's Spirit through each of us - that people far from God would come to know Him!

Do you ever wonder what God looks like? Colossians 1:15-23 paints a clear connection between the image of God and the person of Christ. If Christ is the visible image of the invisible God, we have to wrestle with this question - is our view of Jesus big enough? The truth for Paul, which he believed was truth enough for every follower of Jesus, is that even though God is so big, he is also near…look no further than Jesus.
