Old Familiar Christmas Tunes

Listen Later

Old Familiar Christmas Tunes

I hear the old familiar Christmas tunes; I hear the blaring

holiday jingles

Ads for toys, jewelry and get aways, parties where everyone

mingles

Love is in the air, a brisk breeze out of nowhere, pretty

things under trees

Christmas is surely coming soon; Santa is posing for

pictures at the mall

Tiny shops are enjoying the boon, grabs your coats say hello

Winter goodbye Fall

And children are still children, despite the difference of

how we were back then

The awe and delight of presents wrapped bright, brings even

my childhood back again

And I remember how my mom would recount her youth, telling

us how lucky we were

These older eyes dampen as I realize that what really made

the holidays special were her

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I loved each

and every toy I have ever unwrapped

And the feasts were delicious, along with every free drink

that was tapped

But after the glitter from the packages is gone, as I sweep

up the last needles from the tree

Once I have sampled every cookie, read every card, and seen

all the decorations I can see

The things that stay with me the most, as I pack away the

ornaments and lights

Are the times spent enjoying family and friends, another

year of awesome nights

Thank you all for sharing the smiles, hugging me and kissing

me as we went our separate ways

Cause every year, I get the memories out while the old

familiar Christmas tunes bring back those days...

Merry Christmas everybody!
