Old Game Boys

Metal Gear Solid 3 had Snake vs. Monkey, but the Old Game Boys have Kong vs. Kong. That's right! Bracket tournaments make their triumphant return in this month's bonus level! And man, what a KONG-cept it is! There are plenty of KONG-petitors within this legendary KONG-petition, ready to duke it out with the King of Swing himself. Which of our premier primates, our top-shelf simians, our gorillas of your dreams, will make it to the top and claim the title of "Best Kong?" Tune in and find out!

Thy next foe is... two Old Game Boys revisiting a beloved, beautiful classic.

A beautiful, gripping, haunting tale that is equal parts tragic and triumphant. It's a behemoth of a game and one we've both been eager to share with you!

So lift your sword to the light and let it guide you to this month's level: Shadow of the Colossus.

From the Old Game Boys that brought you a Max Payne Level, it's a Max Payne Movie Bonus Level! After riffing on the film's cast in our previous episode, we simply had to watch the cinematic adaptation for ourselves. It... sure was a movie, wasn't it? How could a game that's so much fun spawn a movie that seems so afraid to have it? Give this bonus level a listen and find out for yourselves!

Looking for something more hard-boiled? Then look no further. This month, Steve and Korwin spend a New York Minute discussing Max Payne: a game about a fugitive cop with nothing left to lose! One of video game auteur Sam Lake's earliest works, Max Payne is a cinematic neo-noir third person shooter that lets you slow down time while stylishly taking down enemies. And plenty of fun references to Norse mythology! So hop into bullet time and give it a listen!
