We are going back to 1977 for the pure amazing experience of Rolling Thunder! A gritty action, revenge flick in a return from Vietnam style. Directed by John Flynn of The Outfit and Out for Justice. Written by Paul Schrader of Taxi Driver, Yakuza, and Raging Bull along with Heywood Gould doing a punch up 2nd take. Staring William Devane, Linda Haynes, and a very young yet extremely memorable Tommy Lee Jones. This movie is about as pure perfect as a film can be in my book. Everything is firing on all cylinders. Characters are great, action is brutal, the story is intense, and the real world grit just makes it all that more thrilling. One of those movies that Quinten Tarantino and Eli Roth have always recommended and for damn good reason.

This time we are talking the ultra classic fat kid summer camp flick of 1995's Heavyweights. Directed by Steven Brill and Written by an early days Judd Apatow. Back when Disney made good edgy kids comedies. This is also when Ben Stiller was playing all the intense bad guy rolls, here he's the megalomaniac fitness entrepreneur that is putting together a fitness program to sell off about these kids quick weight loss regiment. Also featuring a pre Kenan and Kel Nickelodeon days, Kenan Thompson. Hilarious good time fun all around in this classic 1995 film. A classic 90s flick from our generation for sure.

This time we are going back in time to two eras. 1993 when this movie was made and 1976 when the film takes place. Dazed and Confused, the all time classic hang out picture that just makes you want to be there on that end of school, start of summer vacation night. It's like the 70s version of American Graffiti and filled with probably one of the top tier soundtracks of all time. I know I watched the living daylights out of this movie in the past, especially during my high school years. Richard Linklater the director and writer captures the magic of that pocket era that is still relatable to this day, even if it is now almost a half century back. Weird to think about it that way. This film also introduced tons of later day big stars, like Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Joey Lauren Adams, Milla Jovovich, and Parker Posey to name a few.

Talking all about the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller, action, comedy film, North By Northwest of 1959. Starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, and Jessie Royce Landis. A spy thriller of a mistaken identity and a continual chase across the country. With all sorts of fantastic locations, dazzling special effects, and quite a bit of witty comedy to boot. This is the film that inspired the way James Bond 007 movies would emulate, starting with Dr. No and From Russia With Love. You can totally see that here in the North By Northwest. It also reminds me a lot of a pre Coen Brothers style too with a normal character being thrown into extreme situations.
Joining me on this Vintage Cinema Review episode of Old Man Orange is Marley Silverbrand. A guest who has been on OMOP since the earliest of days. He has a high love of all things cinema and you can see more of his work with Marley Loves Film and The Reel Lovers Podcast.

We are going way back in time, to good ole 1935, and reviewing one of the greatest swashbuckling pirate flicks of all time. Captain Blood! With Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland in their first major cinema roles. Plus, the great Basil Rathbone (Sherlock Holmes and the Sheriff of Nottingham) collides with Errol Flynn in a marvelous sword fight on the beach. Directed too by Michael Curtiz of Casablanca, to name a small film. You just don't get that same kind of high adventure glory these days. And if you think that the 1930s of cinema may be a little archaic, well you just need to dive back in time and find out how sophisticated and dialed in the motion picture industry was at this point. They don't call it the golden age of cinema for nothing. Fantastic sets, battling miniature Manowar ships, stunts galore, artistic cinematography, solid pacing, and acting to just put a smile on your face. The 30's to 40's just deliver the best pirate films.
Joining me on the show today, is comic book creator and good buddy, Jack Foster of Reckless Eyeballs. Creator, writer, and artist of the comic book series Gun. Jack is returning to OMOP again to join me while Ryan Dunigan is off with his newborn son in the Netherlands. Ryan will be out of action for a good while. So, new and classic guests will join the OMO Experience each time to review a good ole film.

Well, this will be the last of the Old Man Orange Podcast... Just for a brief hiatus. Ryan is having a kid any moment now so he will be out of action for a while. But don't worry, Spencer will be keeping the show alive and well in the meantime with other co-hosts to hold down the fort and talk some classic motion pictures. With a new segment style called, Old Man Orange Vintage Cinema Review. Featuring film retrospectives from the 1930s to 1970s section of cinema. Something that has always been a back burner idea now moved up to the front. So, good times are still ahead and when Ryan settles in he will be back for a glorious return.
But till that changeover. Our last classic episode here is a good old fashioned casual style. Talking all about some classic video games, books we have been reading, VR gaming, the youth and the changing of the guard in RPGs, and the bummer of travel. All this and more coming at yah!

Batman The Adventures Continue Season 1 Graphic Novel is the Animated Series continuation from original TV writers Paul Dini and Alan Burnett. Bringing together pretty much a season 5 but in comic book form with never used in the show characters and returning classics too. What makes this work so well compared to other series later days stories is by still having the original guys write the script. So the story never has that uncanny fan fiction feel to it that just makes some other classic shows just feel off in comic book form.
We are talking all about the latest X-Men cartoon up on Disney Plus. X-Men '97, a continuation of the 1992 animated series of what I would call the greatest generation of all time for animated series. Batman, Spider-man, Dragon Ball Z, Swat Kats, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pirates of Dark Water, The Simpsons, and X-Men just to name a few of the glorious shows from that early 90s era. Stories and animation were firing on all cylinders, making programing that appealed to a large audience beyond just kids. X-Men 1992 was such a huge deal to me as a kid, as it has been throughout my entire life. So, going into this new version is always going to be an interesting ride. All in all, they do a pretty good job here. With only a little bit of cluster in the certain section of the episodes. Mainly just jamming in too much but never anything that would be considered poor quality. This could be the new era turn around for the Marvel Disney world. Here's hoping X-Men is what gets the groove back in business.

It's our big 600th episode of podcasting the Old Man Orange Show after all these fun filled years of movies, comics, video games, scripts, skits, life stories and good ole comedy fun. So, we decided to go back to some nostalgia and do a Rewind Review of the classic Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy of films from 2002 to 2007. We are joined with are old pal, Marley Silverbrand from The Reel Lovers Podcast to talk all of our classic memories of the early 2000s of superhero films and our new feelings on the stories in our latest re-watch of the Marvel Comics Trilogy.
How does it tie into the original comics and cartoon shows? Do all three of these movies still hold up? What is the best Spider-Man film run? Who is the best Spider-Man villain? Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane? Why does Peter Parker just explain himself to his friends and family and save the headache? Well... All this and more on our foray into the old school by now, Spider-Verse.

Talking all about some Uncle Ted Nugent dreams of him coming by the house for a visit and then fretting about what we are having for dinner. That then flows into some new movies and TV we have been watching, Deadpool and Wolverine, all while learning about the different ways the modern Punisher comic is going. Then reflecting on the end of an era with Rooster Teeth going away and how big of an impact they were in the early 2000s. A causal filled romp of laughs and good times to be had.
