🥵 Hey Sweaties! Welcome back to another unfiltered episode of Old Men in Sweats!, the podcast where comfort meets conflict and the hot takes are as worn-in as our Sweat Bottoms.
In this episode, the guys are airing out their sports grievances, tackling terrible coaching, breaking down some legendary cash-winning kicks, and sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes Hollywood stories.
🏆 WHAT YOU GET ON THIS WEEKS SHOW!
🧠 The Mind of Tommy T.: Tommy goes completely against the grain (and the entire city of Chicago) with a blazing hot take on Mike Ditka. While he respects "Iron Mike" the player, Ditka the broadcaster and personality never impressed him. Prepare for some major pushback on this minority opinion.
🍀 Tommy T. vs. Notre Dame: A coworker who happens to be a massive Fighting Irish fan begs to differ with Tommy’s take on the once-great program. In Tommy’s brutal words: "They are so bad, a guy named Rudy off the street made the team!"
🏈🏀 The Sweaty Sports Hit List: Ruthless breakdowns of the biggest storylines in football, basketball and beyond. The crew analyzes the absolute trainwreck of game-management decisions coming out of Washington, Philadelphia, and Dallas. The coaching was so bad in these crucial scenarios that the men are convinced a random fan in the stands could have called a better game.
💔 Barry D. Breaks Up with Colin Cowherd: Barry D. officially declares he is done being a fan of Colin Cowherd and FOX Sports. He cannot believe that Cowherd still doesn't have his beloved, undefeated Minnesota Vikings in his Top 10 weekly hierarchy standings! Barry calls out the blatant click-bait setup and turns off the volume for good.
🏀 NBA Season Tease & Road Trip Plans: The guys tease the start of the NBA season by bantering about their Los Angeles Lakers, who are looking seriously dangerous. While talking hoops, the Men tease their incredible time this past July at the NBA Summer League and their plans to bring the show out there for some serious fun. It was a surreal feeling for the guys, taking them right back to their days doing their Comedy Central show with the NBA and Danny DeVito. Can the Men, now older, wiser, and carrying a few more aches and pains, make it back? Find out as they lay out the blueprint to hit the road again with their brand new podcast and upcoming TV specials—OMIS is going global!
🎲 Don't Bet The House: Sports betting picks and predictions that only two kids who grew up in an Italian Social Club can foresee. The men recap their absolute heater in Week 7, where their picks went a stellar 4-2! Week 8 picks are officially locked in, and the guys remind everyone: don’t bet the house—but definitely bet and win cash with OMIS.
🎖️ Sweaty of the Week: The Men hand out their award of the week to the fan, player, coach or team personnel who emulates the Old Men in Sweats. Barry D. elects BYU freshman Carter Smith, who won a staggering $3 million on a field goal try at ESPN's College GameDay on The Pat McAfee Show. Not only did he nail the kick barefoot, but he did it while wearing a full Spider-Man costume! He is officially the Big Man on Campus all year long with the ladies at BYU.
🧃 OJ Simpson Doc with Tommy T.: A lead-in to Tommy T.'s upcoming appearance on a new O.J. Simpson documentary for Peacock, OJ’s Accomplice, premiering November 1. Tommy sheds more light on his personal participation being interviewed for the film, giving exclusive details about his part of the filming right back in his old neighborhood of Brentwood, California.
And Mucho, Mucho more!!!

After the All-Pro right tackle announced his abrupt retirement to prioritize his mental health, Stephen A. went on First Take and openly mocked the timing—implying Johnson was simply quitting on a struggling team. The internet, fellow analysts, and former NFL players immediately cooked him for the tone-deaf segment, forcing a massive live on-air backtrack.

🏈 IN THIS EPISODE:
• First up, Tommy T. steps into the ring for a blistering edition of "The Mind of Tommy T." Tommy takes direct aim at TV personality Stephen A. Smith following his controversial reaction to Philadelphia Eagles legend Lane Johnson’s retirement. When Johnson courageously opened up about his mental health, Stephen A. dropped a negative take that didn't sit well with the sports world—and it definitely didn't sit well with Tommy.
• Next, on the "Sweaty Sports Hit List," Barry D. fires back at angry sports bettors who lost their minds when Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson chose to slide down at the end of the game to seal the win rather than scoring a public-betting-covering touchdown. This triggers an epic breakdown on how "soft" modern kids have it with sports gambling. Back in the day, if you couldn't pay your sports betting debt, you weren't just getting your bank account frozen—you were worrying about old-school bookies breaking your legs! Tommy T. links Hockenson's smart slide directly to the history of the "Victory Formation," tracing it back to the infamous 1978 "Miracle at the Meadowlands" debacle when the NY Giants botched a late-game handoff, allowing Herm Edwards and the Eagles to scoop it up for a shocking winning touchdown.
• "Rewind & Review," the men then look back and re-cap Week 4 and rank their present powerhouses. In the AFC, they are all-in on the Chiefs, Bills, Jags, and Raiders, while their NFC elite features the Vikings, Niners, and Seahawks. Meanwhile, traditional giants like the Eagles, Cowboys, Packers, and Rams are officially on notice, joining the struggling Ravens and Bengals in the "iffy" category. Looking ahead and previewing Week 5, Tommy blindsides Barry by picking the Saints to upset Barry's beloved Minnesota Vikings!
• For "Sweaty of the Week," the guys highlight San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle "Juice" Juszczyk, who was absurdly fined by the NFL for a touchdown celebration. While the NFL initially thought he was chugging a beer, they finally rescinded the fine after realizing he was actually pretending to drink a juice box in honor of his nickname! Barry D. mentions his wife’s NFL Ladies gear and that she’s not to hard on the eyes!
• This naturally leads into a brand-new, must-watch weekly segment: "The Juice is on the Loose." Tommy T. gets a bit confused between Juszczyk and the original Juice, O.J. Simpson, prompting the men to begin a weekly unpacking of a mind-blowing piece of history: Tommy T. actually witnessed the infamous 1990s O.J. Simpson murders in Brentwood, California. The guys give a sneak peek into Tommy T.’s unbelievable story, which will be featured in a massive upcoming true-crime documentary on NBC and Peacock this winter!
