Old Roads

I survived myself
But barely
And now I forget
What life is supposed to be,
Pacing mile after mile
Of old worn out roads
Until the soles of my shoes
Are worn thin.
I keep searching for pieces,
Bread crumbs I might have dropped
To lead me back home,
Back to who I was before…
But it’s been too long
And I’ve gone too far
And now it seems I’m lost
In such a familiar setting
That has changed so much,
Like the mirror I look into,
A vision so foreign
I no longer like what I see,
Just an empty husk
Barely alive.
I have to wonder
What constitutes living
From just passing time.
