In this episode of DreamMachine, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2014 DreamWorks animated film Mr. Peabody & Sherman, based on the segment Peabody's Improbable History from the 1960's cartoon The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show. The plot is about an intelligent dog named Mr. Peabody and his boy named Sherman who is more of his assistant than his son. While going to school, he meets a girl named Penny who constantly makes fun of him. Meanwhile, Child Protective Services claims that Mr. Peabody isn't a fit father for Sherman and threatens to take him away to a human family. When Mr. Peabody invites Penny and her family over for dinner, Sherman claims that he has traveled all over the world with a time machine called The Wayback Machine. Penny convinces Sherman to show her the machine only for them to visit a few places in ancient times. Will this time travel affect the past and future? Will Mr. Peabody have full custody of Sherman?   

When the movie premiered in theaters, it received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers and made over $275 million dollars on a $145 million dollar budget. However, it was called a box office failure by DreamWorks. Despite that, it had gotten an animated series on Netflix and was the start of a major comeback for The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show with getting their own animated series on Netflix called The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle in 2018. In this episode of We're in Between, Patricia and Casey discuss about the 29th episode of As Told by Ginger "Lunatic Lake" alongside special guest Eric Molinsky, who was one of the storyboard artists and claims it as his personal favorite. The plot focuses on Ginger and Carl going to Loon Lake alongside the Bishop family having to deal with Joann's extreme attitude as well as an escaped lunatic. In this episode of the Roald Dahl Retrospective, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 1990 film The Witches based on the 1983 book of the same name starring Jasen Fisher, Mai Zetterling, Charlie Potter, Anjelica Huston, and Rowan Atkinson. A young boy named Luke is raised by his grandmother after losing his parents in a car accident. She tells him the warning signs on witches and what to look out for after she lost her best friend to one many years prior. When Luke and his grandmother check in on a hotel, they don't realize that they're in the middle of a gathering of witches who wish to get rid of all the children by buying all the sweet shops in England. Luke discovers their evil plan and turns into a mouse when caught by the witches. Luke, his grandmother, and another boy named Bruno work together to take down the witches before they accomplish their diabolical deed.  

When the movie premiered in theaters, it only made $15 million dollars in the box office while being critically acclaimed by critics. However, the film had brought controversy such as scaring kids and complaints from wiccans offended of portraying witches as harmful stereotypes. Another controversial event that occurred was when the original ending of the movie was changed for a more lighter and happier tone. Roald Dahl was so displeased with the decision that he left the project and removed his involvement with the film. To this day, The Witches has become a cult classic for kids who first saw the film and Roald Dahl fans. How well does the film hold up 30 years later? Listen and find out.

In this episode of DreamMachine, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2013 DreamWorks animated film Turbo. The movie is about a snail named Theo who wishes to be a racer just like his idol Indy 500 champion Guy Gayne. However, his brother Chet wants him to be a normal snail and help gather tomatoes with the rest of the snails. But one day, Theo accidentally falls into an engine during a drag race and has his DNA fused with nitrous oxide making him go really fast. When Chet is captured by crows, Theo chases after him with them far away from their simple home life in the garden and stranded in a failing plaza in Los Angeles. They're discovered by a taco truck driver named Tito who wishes to sign Theo at the Indy 500 so that the taco shop that he and his brother run would be successful in addition to the other shop owners at the plaza. Would their dreams and goals be successful or would they forever be underdogs?  

Despite making $282 million dollars in a $127 million budget, Turbo was considered to be a box office failure making it one of the lowest grossing DreamWorks films ever. It also received mixed to positive reviews from critics and viewers calling it "predictable, yet visually appealing". It had gotten an animated series on Netflix called Turbo Fast.
