I am honored to share this conversation with Anne Garrett. Anne is a mother, writer and philanthropist. Together we talk honestly and unflinchingly about what brought her to co-found the Unexpected Project, a 100% volunteer-led non-profit that shares the stories of those who survived (or lost someone who did not) a harrowing complication in pregnancy.
This is a conversation where we quickly go deep into Anne's experience and what she's learned from others along the way while also continuing the Unexpected Project, working on a documentary, and writing a book.
Anne also shares her desire to spread the word to remove stigma and shame that many mothers feel after such experiences. Her dedication and passion to keep helping others through difficult times is bold and inspiring.

Exciting news about a fun addition to the podcast this season.
This brief bonus episode talks a little about how perfectionism can keep you from being, well, you.
Hello Listener!
After the last episode I was reminded that there's another way people stop themselves from taking action.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is also the last episode for Season 2. I'll be on a short break while I work on new episodes and a slightly different format for Season 3. Between now and the new season I'll share a few popular episodes from the first season of my podcast - keep your eyes open for those!
In this episode I share the three main ways I see people stop themselves.
I talk about both the helpful and unhelpful aspects of those ways, and how to work with turning around the unhelpful reactions back to helpful ones.
Here are the questions I mentioned at the end that you can ask yourself:
2. What do I love about (doing) it?
3. How can I "disrupt" this unhelpful viewpoint?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are quite a few reasons why you might be stopping yourself from taking action, including PTSD and CPTSD. If you think your inability to take action may be due to trauma I encourage you to seek a qualified mental health professional for care.
PTSD = Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
CPTSD = complex PTSD
I'll refer you to this medically-reviewed article which explains in more detail what can lead to either condition and when you may want to seek help.
