On 4th February 2015, David McGealy Station Manager of Oldham Community Radio was the recipient of an exclusive Oldham Council Civic Appreciation Award. Our microphones, as always, were in the council chamber to capture this very special moment.

Part 2 of our outside Broadcast recording from the Playhouse 2 Theatre in Shaw starring the Dobcross Silver Band recorded on 20.10.23

Our outside broadcast microphones recorded a concert of music for all performed by the Dobcross Silver Band under their conductor and musical director Jason M Smith at Playhouse 2 Theatre in Shaw.

Saddleworth Community Hydro Ltd generates enough sustainable electricity  to power about 100 homes via the national grid, with an annual saving of 170 tonnes of  CO2 .

We are situated at Dove Stone Reservoir, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7NE

The dam height of 31m allows the use of a cross flow turbine driven by the continuous supply of compensation water flowing from the reservoir into Chew Brook to generate up to 51 kW for the next forty years or so.

This is the first high head system in England to use an existing dam.

Oldham Today came live from Ultimate Products headquarters in Manor Mill at Chadderton.

We visit the Pennine Animal Welfare Society’s family fun dog show which was held at Dawsons field in Scouthead on Sunday.  We chat with dog trainer Helen Taylor and meet some of the winners of the show, plus exhibitors and community volunteers who arranged the event which attracted hundreds of four legged friends.
