Hoy les traigo nuevamente un relato para reflexionar, no sé si lo habrán notado pero he estado intentando llevar una continuidad de los temas con el fin de ir hilando de alguna manera cada tema. Puesto que la publicación pasada hablamos sobre como por medio del miedo que género en los medos y lidios el no poder comprender el fenómeno natural del eclipse total de sol ocurrido durante una batalla. Esto se prestó como una puerta para detener la guerra que venían sosteniendo durante 6 años, a partir de una interpretación supersticiosa o mística del fenómeno.
Today I bring you again a story to reflect, I do not know if you have noticed but I have been trying to bring a continuity of topics in order to go somehow spinning each topic. Since the last publication we talked about how through the fear that genre in the Medes and Lydians not being able to understand the natural phenomenon of the total eclipse of the sun occurred during a battle. Sin embargo, el relato de hoy nos trae a
colación un tema interesante sobre el cual me gustaría que reflexionemos ¿qué sucede cuando alguien que tiene determinada información utiliza esto a su favor para beneficio propio explotando la ignorancia de sus semejantes? ¿Hasta qué punto es válido tomar ventajas del conocimiento? ¿Hasta qué punto es válido tomar ventaja de la ignorancia? Esas pues, son solo algunas de las preguntas que surgen cuando estudiamos el relato de como Cristóbal colón se aprovechó de un eclipse para salvar su vida obteniendo a base de engaños los recursos y alimentos que necesitaba para sobrevivir al que sería su cuarto y último viaje a las Américas .
However, today's story brings up an interesting topic on which I would like us to reflect: what happens when someone who has certain information uses it to his own advantage, exploiting the ignorance of his fellow men? To what extent is it valid to take advantage of knowledge? To what extent is it valid to take advantage of ignorance? These are just some of the questions that arise when we study the story of how Christopher Columbus took advantage of an eclipse to save his life by obtaining the resources and food he needed to survive what would be his fourth and last voyage to the Americas.
Por otra parte, también aprovechamos
de hacer un necesario contraste con la actualidad puesto que si hacemos un poco de memoria en vísperas al eclipse solar que ocurrió este pasado 8 de abril. Las redes sociales se infestaron de publicaciones referentes al tema y no dejaron de resaltar aquellas que informaban e incluso instaban a la población a hacer compras compulsivas de agua y comida alegando distintas narraciones apocalípticas y conspiranoicas. Es sorprendente como un llamado a tomar previsiones por el aumento de turistas que se acercarían a la zona del eclipse, se desvirtuó hasta generar en algunas personas una especie de paranoia colectiva. Todo lo anterior nos lleva a una necesaria reflexión sobre el uso que le damos actualmente a los medios de comunicación masiva que tenemos atreves del internet, o siendo más específicos que criterios utilizamos para procesar la avalancha de información a las cuales estamos expuestos cada día, hoy en pleno siglo veintiuno.

Siguiendo este mismo orden de ideas, es justo reconocer que son sumamente asombrosos los adelantos tecnológicos que al día de hoy nuestra especie a alcanzado igualando e incluso superando en algunos casos los relatos que nos brinda la ciencia ficción. Sin embargo, es contrastante como los mismo que hacemos uso diario de tecnologías tan complejas como por ejemplo la inteligencia artificial. Pareciese al mismo tiempo que quedamos cortos al interpretar o comprender el mundo que nos rodea. Preguntémonos pues, ¿acaso la tecnología ha logrado rebasar nuestro discernimiento? ¿Acaso hemos construido nuestra propia jaula llamándola tecnología? ¿A pesar de los avances de la ciencia que tanto hemos avanzado como sociedad? ¿en que nos diferenciamos de los lidios, de los medos y de los aborígenes precolombinos de américa? ¿Será acaso que incluso con nuestra ciencia y tecnología no podemos superar ese instinto humano de miedo ante los grandes fenómenos de la naturaleza?
Following this same order of ideas, it is fair to recognize that the
technological advances that our species has reached today are extremely amazing, equaling even surpassing in some cases the stories that science fiction gives us. However, it is contrahow those of us who make daily use of such complex technologies as artificial intelligence. It seems at the same time that we fall short in interpreting or understanding the world around us. Let us ask ourselves, then, has technology managed to surpass our discernment? Have we built our own cage, calling it technology? In spite of the advances in science, how have we advanced as a society? How are we different from the Lydians, the Medes and the pre-Columbian aborigines of America? Could it be that even with our science and technology we cannot overcome that human instinct of fear before the great phenomena of nature?

En referencia a esto último, viene a mi mente unas palabras que Desmon Morris registro en su libro el mono desnudo, “incluso aquel mono que va al espacio tiene que orinar”. Probablemente la próxima publicación abordaremos sobre este tópico, la esencia humana. Por el momento me despido deseando que sea de su agrado esta publicación y se animen a dejar sus respetuosas opiniones sobre estas cuestiones que considero dignas de reflexión.
In reference to the latter, a few words that Desmon Morris recorded in his book The Naked Ape come to my mind, “even that monkey that goes to space has to urinate”.
