In addressing ourselves to this subject from the Biblical point of view, there are two extremes that we must seek to avoid. There is the extreme of divorcing Christianity altogether from such an issue as civil disobedience. The other extreme is being so absorbed in a matter of this kind and in politics so as to forget our distinctive Christian emphasis as ministers of Jesus Christ. So there is some sense of balance that needs to be maintained while we seek the priority above all of following God’s word.

I want you to consider what the Bible has to say about the matter of being a spectator or an on-looker while the world just goes on its destructive course.The term involvement means to be wrapped up in or to be rolled up in. Living on this planet determines the fact that you and I are involved whether we like it or not. The question is how you react to this matter of involvement and what that reaction communicates in terms of good or evil.

God has an answer to racial discrimination. We are going to confront the word of God squarely and fairly to find out what it has to say concerning this great issue today. Without doubt and without question, this has been one of the burning issues of modern times and is still an issue today. To ignore or avoid the problem is to fail in our witness and to plead the impracticability of the gospel we preach. I believe God gives us a three-fold answer to racial discrimination in His Holy Word. We are going to look at it now.

As a preparation for the series, I want to talk on the general theme of What’s Wrong with the World. Somebody has said that there has been more progress in the last 40 years than all the previous 400 years. Who would have thought that we would be living today in a world that is characterized by famine, disease, disruption and war? Surely we should face up to the facts as they relate to us, our country and our world, and then seek to answer these urgent and tragic situations.
