SPECIAL GUEST ALERRRRTTTT!! Today, I'm here with James to talk about two interesting topics, activism and travel. James and I went to the same school together for like 6 years and became close in high school. Ever since I've known him, he's been a little activist in real life and in the media. I've always been inspired by his ability to take action about things he's passionate about. So this episode was fascinating to learn about why he does what he does and how he does what he does. He gives advice on how to start getting active in your own community, even when the news and negative events in the world can seem overwhelming. After this, we talk about the importance of travel. James just got back from an internship/volunteer-like program in Chile, so he talks about his experience along with why it is important to travel locally, domestically, or internationally for self-discovery.
Some topics mentioned in the episode:
youth activism
how to get involved in your community
identity + community
finding your passion for a cause
social media posts vs action
significance of local travel
domestic and international travel benefits
breaking cultural stereotypes through travel/seeing first hand
living more spontaneously
having fewer expectations
learning about self during travel
