One of my favorite songs in the entire world was written by a man named Horatio Spafford in 1873.
He was a lawyer and a real estate investor and a Presbyterian church elder. By all measures, a shining example of someone who had achieved the American dream. But at 9 PM on October 8th, 1871, when the O’Leary family barn caught on fire, he learned that financial success isn't the metric by which one should ever base their happiness. This is a story of love and loss, grief and acceptance.
