  • On Frame with Dome Torrent
After training on Monday, New York City FC head coach Dome Torrent described how both he and his players have achieved a comfort level with each other. The result - 13 matches without a loss in all competitions.
"I remember our first year in Manchester was not easy for Pep and for me. But the second year was much butter and the third year much better. This os normal especially when you want to play positional, right? It's very important for me to play positional because that is the reason they can understand the different shapes what is expected." - NYCFC head coach, Dome Torrent

  • On Frame with Dome Torrent and Anton Tinnerholm
The most important result in Dome Torrent’s brief tenure as head coach of the New York City Football Club came on April 24 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
It was week eight of Major League Soccer and the boys in blue had yet to record a victory and Torrent’s job security was in question.
City won that match in convincing style, 2-0 – part of what is currently an 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions.
Audi Field will be the venue for New York City’s Round of 16 match in the 106-year old U.S. Open Cup – the Pigeons recording their first win in the competition last week against North Carolina FC.
Because of injuries and international call-ups, Anton Tinnerholm, normally an outside back, played at center back for the first time since he was 15 years old in that match.
Torrent and Tinnerholm spoke to Pro Soccer USA’s Glenn Crooks about the run in the U.S. Open Cup and the earlier success against D.C. United.
“There were a couple of times he (center back Sebastian Ibeagha) had to scream at me – I really wanted to go forward. That was the biggest challenge for me.” – Anton Tinnerholm on his adjustment from wing back to center back.
“When I want to change the system or move some players, normally I will speak to the players when I have any doubt. I respect their opinion.” – Dome Torrent on the necessity of change in the midst of injuries and international call-ups.

Soccertown USA is a film that takes a close look at Kearny, NJ – the cradle of American soccer that has produced Tony Meola, John Harkes and Tab Ramos – who all grew up just a mile from each other before representing the USA together in the World Cup. South Orange, NJ resident Tom McCabe is one of the producers of Soccertown USA and he talks to Glenn about all the soccer history that Kearny has to offer – dating back to the late 1800’s.
“Kearny is a mysterious even mystical soccer place. There’s field all over town, there’s dust bowls. When you study American soccer you have to look at this as the cradle of American soccer, one of these really, really important places to our game in this country.” – Tom McCable, Soccertown USA.
