In this episode we’ll be talking about the categories that can be found within the gay community.

Why are we discussing this and why is this interesting for everyone?

If you’re a woman and you think the patriarchy only affects you, think again. Within the gay community, you’d assume there wouldn’t be issues of gender-like discrimination because… they all have penises. So, like, problem solved- right? Instead we find the unwieldy construction of a quasi-female category.

Why, you ask. Good question.

To create a power dynamic. There is a fixation on hyper-masculinity on dating apps but also within the real world and apparently having a penis isn’t enough to run away from patriarchal issues.

Why, you ask again.

Well, damn. What a question. We’ll attempt to answer it as best as we can but to give you a taster:

Think internalised homophobia, a fixation on masculinity, the innate human need to have more values than others, and so on.

But bottom line, the labels are a big issue.
