In this episode I'm joined by Dr Craig Joyce, a child and behavioural psychologist from Warwickshire, UK. Dr Joyce has years of experience working with children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and has a passion for understanding why young people behave the way they do.

The episode focusses on children's behaviour, and towards the end we talk about how early trauma can affect our behaviour as adults. The key message to takeaway is that if you had any of these experiences as a child, they could well be effecting you now and healing is possible.

There is so much research in this subject area. A simple google search of "Adverse Childhood Experiences" will give you plenty to go at.

Love has been on my mind this month, perhaps because of Valentine's Day, perhaps because it's something that affects and alludes us all at some point in our lives.

In this episode I take a closer look at why people might find themselves in unhealthy relationships and how the way we were raised as children can have a direct impact in defining what we call love - our template of love that is.

In this episode I’m joined by Duncan Craig, CEO & Founder of Survivors Manchester, a charity based here in my home city. Duncan is also a qualified counsellor and likes to maintain his practice alongside running the charity.

After breaking his silence about being sexually abused and raped as a child, Duncan struggled to find specialist support in Manchester, instead he had to travel over 300 miles each time he needed to access a support service in another part of the UK.

After focussing on his own healing, in 2008 with just £250 in his pocket Duncan founded Survivors Manchester – a charity that supports male survivors of sexual abuse, harm and exploitation in Greater Manchester.

In this podcast Duncan shares some of his personal story along with some of the leaps the charity has made over the last ten years. In a twist to the normal guest episode format, our roles switch half way through and I talk openly for the first time about my experience of being sexually exploited when I was a child.
