Hey guys, today's talk is on societal dilemmas affecting moral decisions. Much of it will come down to the principal of double effect. For example, was it wrong for Fr. Kapaun to steal food if the punishment was death for his bunkmates? Since the situation is oppressive, no (opinion). But what about where the line is muddy, where there is no black and white area? Healthcare is a commonplace argument because it argues commonwealth vs. commonwealth. It can hurt us more in the long run potentially to fund public healthcare but every person should be healthy and taken care of. Many of these questions arise in modern society because it is hard to take a side. One factor in how you were raised could determine what your response is. I enjoy the framework of many of these arguments and it is a great way to realize that we do have the gift of opportunity. Go make the world what you want it to be. There are too many good things out there for you to sit around and not take them. Go make the world a better place.
