This is the story about Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha and his teaching.

As far as we know, Gautama's father, Suddhodana, was a Shakyan aristocrat, and some sources refer to him as a "raja". But contrary to the version of Gautama's life made public in legendary accounts, this did not mean that he was a king, these were called "maharajas".
