On the Record (Bahamas)

Guest: Dr. Sean Leonardo Knowles, Physician

Under the theme of Mental Health Awareness Month, Jerome Sawyer sits down with psychiatrist Dr. Sean Leonardo Knowles to confront the deepening mental health crisis in The Bahamas. Together they unpack the alarming rise in suicide—especially among men—and the widespread stigma that keeps so many suffering in silence. Dr. Knowles urges a national response, advocating for mental health education in schools, legal reforms on youth substance use, and increased access to care across the islands. From trauma and addiction to emotional repression in men, this episode issues a compelling call for cultural change, compassionate intervention, and serious investment in the nation’s mental wellbeing.

Guest

Father Ethan Ferguson - Rector, Holy Cross Parish

As Bahamians wrestle with rising crime, mental health struggles, and a generation drifting from faith, On the Record asks: has the true meaning of Easter been lost? This week, host Jerome Sawyer sits down with Father Ethan Ferguson, Director of Holy Cross Parish, for a candid conversation about the spiritual state of the nation. Together, they explore how the church can help heal a fractured society, reach disillusioned youth, and offer hope in uncertain times. Is the church still relevant? Can faith bridge the divide? Don’t miss this timely reflection on where we are—and where we must go.

Guest: Aisha Bowe - Bahamian Astronaut

Tonight on On the Record, Jerome Sawyer reconnects with one of the most inspiring Bahamians of our time—Aisha Bowe. Just over two years ago, she joined us as a former NASA rocket scientist with dreams of reaching space. Now, she returns—an astronaut. From carrying the Bahamian flag and conch chowder beyond the stratosphere to conducting cutting-edge science aboard Blue Origin’s first all-female crewed mission, Aisha didn’t just visit space—she took the Bahamas with her.

What does Earth look like from up there? What’s next for her groundbreaking work in science, education, and national pride? And when exactly is she planning to go back?

Don’t miss this out-of-this-world conversation with a woman who's changing how we think about what's possible.
