“I was dwelling on this grim data as I watched the moonlight illuminate the tombstones littering the small desert cemetery. The light made the already white granite stones appear almost translucent. Row after row of headstones reflected back the moon’s glow. As a result, I could almost read the inscriptions off the closest stones. Names and lives long forgotten to time. The wind had picked up a bit, and a few tumbleweeds were rolling amidst the graves.”
