In this episode, we are talking about sport, physical activity and mental health.
We sit down with Sarah, who holds a BA in Psychology, to talk about what mental health looks like in Malawi, how sport can be a powerful tool for our wellbeing, and what athletes may be dealing with behind the scenes. We also hear from Loveness "Nyaksy" Nyakamera, who played football professionally and represented Malawi with the Scorchers, on the mental side of competing at the highest level.
Throughout the episode, we are reminded that taking care of our mental health is not a luxury. It is essential. And sometimes the first and hardest step is simply opening up to someone and saying you need help. This year's Mental Health Awareness Month theme is 'More Good Days Together', and more good days together start with that conversation.
If you or someone you know needs support, you can find a list of mental health practitioners working in Malawi on the mental wellbeing resources here 👉🏾 https://mhlec.com/resources/.
Be kind to yourselves 💚
