Join me on one last Summer road trip to Vegas on this weeks episode as I travel to Las Vegas to see what there is to do along the world famous "Strip".
I'm going to walk the entire Las Vegas strip from end to end (and back) and detail each and every Casino and major store or strip mall. The walk is 12-15 miles long overall, depending on how many casinos or other attractions you visit and there is a lot to cover. Along the way, I'll share some of my personal experiences from the dozens of trips I have made to Las Vegas as well as my recommendations or suggestions.
We're going to do something a little different for episode 8. I made an impromptu, last minute trip to the Hollywood Bowl on September 2nd, 2022 to see John Williams perform some of his greatest hits and recorded the majority of the performance, including the world premiere of "Helena" from the upcoming, non-released Indiana Jones 5 movie.
Sit back and relax. I'll be your host and narrator as we let David Newman and 90 year old master conductor John Williams entertain you with excerpts from: Baton Bunny, Lincoln, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, Olympic Fanfare, Fiddler on the Roof, Schindler's List, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
Just 32 miles off the SoCal west coast is Santa Catalina Island. If you didn't know any better, you could swear your 70 minute boat ride brought you to the other side of the world to explore a Greek Island. Such is the vibe you'll get on Catalina, with no shortage of things to do from hiking, museums, gardens, restuarants, shopping, beaches, ziplining, backcountry tours, snorkeling, scuba diving or exploring on your own in rented golf carts and e-bikes. Let's explore all there is to do here on our own little slice of the Mediterranean.
CICLAVIA is a play on the spanish word CICLOVIA, which means Cycleway. CICLAVIA is a unique SoCal event that takes place multiple times each year in various locations around SoCal and these events close off miles of streets to non-human powered vehicles so that anyone can enjoy on bicycle, skateboard, roller skates or to run walk and spectate. Join me this week as I attended and took part in the 6.6 mile long CICLAVIA route between East Hollywood and West Hollywood.
Its still summer and time for a road trip! This week, I took the 222 mile drive up interstate 15 to Las Vegas, Nevada. Although i've been to Las Vegas dozens of times, each time I go I experience new things. On this trip, I visited the Mob Museum and watched my very first production of Cirque Du Soleil. Are these experiences worth your time and money? Allow me to help you decide on this episode of the One Day in SoCal in Podcast!
This week I visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We'll explore the entire boulevard as we see everything there is to do here inlcuding intrigueing museums, unique bars, themed restaurants and experiencing a slice of the Southern California dream to one day making it big in Hollywood.
This week I went to the world famous Hollywood Bowl to attend the Back to the Future in Concert. What I expected was the Los Angeles Philharmonic to play through some of the original back to the future soundtrack, maybe with a few clips from the movie. What I got instead was even better. The entire Back to the Future Part I was played, and the Orchestra, right on que, played the scenes...perfectly! Join me as I share my experiences at this amazing venue and some of the clips of the sights and sounds as we go Back to the Future, at the Hollywood Bowl!
From the perspective of a non-sports fan, I am fresh back from my visit to Angels Stadium yesterday in their game against the Texas Rangers and Dodger Stadium last month in their game against the New York Mets. If you only had, One Day in SoCal, which should you visit?
Just back from the Southern California Railway Museum, I'll be going over what makes this an absolute Southern California Gem, if not National treasure. Why it's unique and why you should consider a visit. Join me on my very first episode of my very first podcast. One Day in SoCal!
