The book of Psalms is found in the Old Testament. It’s a collection of prayers (most likely written to music originally) for God’s people. It was their prayer book. It was Jesus’ prayer book. It’s been the churches prayer book for two millennia. And it can be our prayer book today. The Psalms don’t teach us to prayer nice, neat, sugar coated prayers. Instead, they give us permission to be honest, raw, and vulnerable in our prayers. This summer we will walk through the Psalms, allowing them to guide our prayer life and trusting that God meets us right where we are.
