Following Lazarus’ resurrection, many Jews believed in Jesus after seeing His power. Others reported the miracle to the Pharisees, prompting the Sanhedrin to convene in fear. Caiaphas the high priest declared it better for one man to die for the people. Unknowingly moved by the Holy Spirit, he prophesied Jesus’ substitutionary death—not only for the nation but to gather God’s scattered children into one. From that day, they plotted to kill Him, unknowingly advancing God’s sovereign plan of redemption through the cross.
