One Man's Faith

In the book of Jonah, we see a very wicked city listen to God and repent, and an Israelite prophet try to run from God and never seemingly learning what God tried to teach him.  What does that mean for us?

We've been through a lot the past 14 months or so.  Many people have given in to things that they don't agree with or compliant so things can get back to normal.  What happens if we look at it spiritually?

If we throw out creation, we discredit all the rest of the Bible.  Yet that's what people are doing, including self-proclaimed Christians.  Don't fall into the trap of evolution or the Big-Bang theory.

Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus every year (hopefully every week, or better yet, every day!), but to fully understand why, we have to get the whole back story from thousands of years before Jesus ever came to earth.

As much as I loved my backpacking trip, the closer I got to the trailhead, and then to my home, the more excited I got.  That reminded me that no matter what this life has to offer, our heavenly home is far greater!

The fourth lesson I learned from my solo overnight backpacking trip is that people are gifts to one another, but even when we don't have anybody else, God is enough.

This is the 3rd lesson I came away with from my solo overnight backpacking trip.  Today I talk about how God hears and answers, but His will is not always our will.

This is lesson #2 of my 5 part series of lessons I took away from my solo backpacking trip at the Wayne National Forest in Ohio a year or two ago.  You can only take so much with you backpacking, which makes for more adventure, but also makes you realize what you usually rely on.

A couple years ago I took my first overnight backpacking trip.  It was tougher than I expected it to be, and I didn't make it as far as I planned.  But, from that trip, I came away with 5 spiritual lessons.   The next several episodes I'll be sharing those with you.

I lost 35 pounds in 4 1/2 months.  I couldn't do it by trying it little by little.  Instead, I had to jump all in.  I think the same could be said for our spiritual life.
