Examine your memories. Is your memory bank filled with positive, faith building experiences, or have you carefully kept a litany of painful memories? Since not all our memories are positive we must shift through them, choosing which ones to keep and which ones to discard. For the most part, happy people have mastered the holy art of remembering good things. When the present is difficult or foreboding they simply reach back and draw strength from the past.
“Look to the Lord and his strength…Remember the wonders he has done; his miracles and the judgments he pronounced…”
Lord Jesus, help us to remember Your great faithfulness and to draw strength from it when present difficulties tempt us to despair. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
