Do you sometimes feel that your life is out of control, that God is conspicuously absent, that you have been left alone to figure things out for yourself? God has not abandoned you even if it seems He has. Experience has shown me that His great faithfulness is best seen in retrospect. It is only as we look back over our lives that we realize God had a plan even before we had a problem.

“… teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you”

Lord Jesus, forgive me. In the heat of the moment, I am tempted to focus on my circumstances rather than Your promises. Help me to always focus on Your near presence. Amen.

For me the essence of prayer is fellowship, communication, intimacy – the pure pleasure of God’s presence. Intercession is critical and petition is vital, but they pale in comparison to the heart of prayer, which is relationship with the Father.

“…you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children”

Lord Jesus, I long to commune with You as friend with friend. Bind our hearts together until I am truly one with You. Let me think Your thoughts after You. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

Nothing is more important to a vibrant spiritual life than prayer. What breath is to our body, prayer is to our soul. In prayer we experience fellowship with the Father that nurtures our soul, guidance to direct us, and anointing to accomplish our life’s work. It is the single most important spiritual discipline and the source of our strength. No wonder Jesus said,

“…men ought always to pray, and not to faint…”

Lord Jesus, teach us to pray. Teach us to wait in Your holy presence until we have received strength from on high. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

Hope is our anchor, but it does not prevent the storm, nor does it guarantee our world won’t be rocked. Hebrews 6:19 says, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…” Our hope is not anchored in our circumstances, which change with the wind, but in the unchanging character of a God who has never broken a promise. If you are midst of a storm today, make sure your anchor grips the Solid Rock. That rock is Jesus.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him…”

Lord Jesus, You can calm the storm but if you don’t, speak peace to our souls. Amen.

There are seasons in life when the night of despair seems endless. Maybe you’re living in such a night right now. The cold winds of grief, disappointment, and uncertainty howl threatening the walls of your faith. In times like that optimism isn’t enough. What you need is a steadfast hope. A stubborn hope that refuses to doubt that God still cares even when the heavens have turned to brass, and your prayers seem to go unanswered.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…”

Lord, when the storms rage and our vision blurs, keep us anchored to Your unfailing love. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

We often think marriage will be a series of grand, sweeping moments. In reality, it is found in the weary smile across the kitchen table after a long day. It is the silent, instinctual reaching for a hand in the dark when the world feels too heavy. It is the daily, deliberate choice to offer grace when frustration is easier, to listen when you would rather speak, and to forgive when the hurt is real. Love in its truest form doesn’t just survive the mundane; it sanctifies it.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Lord, thank You for the gift of my spouse. Give me the grace to love her today not just with words, but with patient, enduring grace. Amen.

True service is rarely glamorous. It is usually found in the messy, inconvenient margins of life. It’s pausing to listen to a lonely neighbor when you are running late. It is carrying a burden for a friend who has nothing to offer in return. It is seeing the invisible people the world rushes past. When we kneel to serve the broken, the weary, and the forgotten, a holy mystery occurs: the face of the person we are serving slowly fades, and we find ourselves looking directly into the eyes of Jesus.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Lord, forgive me for seeking the spotlight when You have called me to the towel. Give me eyes to see the needs around me, and hands willing to do the quiet work of love. Amen.

You may be in a difficult place right now. It may seem your dreams are being crushed and that you will never fulfill your destiny. You may be tempted with bitterness and despair. Don’t give in to those negative emotions. Continue to trust God and you will be amazed at how He will use even this difficult time to work His perfect will in your life.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Lord Jesus, when things fall apart I am tempted to rail at You. Forgive me. Remind me that You see the big picture while I only see the little picture. Help me to trust Your wisdom and Your love. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

Trust God in your darkest hour. Trust Him even when it seems to make no sense and all the evidence seems to say He has let you down. Trust Him when the heavens turn to brass and your most desperate prayers seem to go unanswered. Trust Him no matter what and He will grant you a supernatural peace that is not dependent on circumstances or understanding.

“The peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Lord Jesus, we choose to trust You no matter what is happening in our lives. Grant us Your supernatural peace. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

Are you walking through a dark place in your life? Does it seem God has forsaken you? Are you tempted to give up? Don’t! Instead choose to trust God, even though disappointment and loss may have made it impossible for you to understand His ways. Like an unerring compass, His Word will guide you safely through the fog of your pain. No matter how great your disappointment, God can turn your heartbreak into hope. Your past does not have to determine your destiny.

“For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Lord Jesus, we choose to trust You no matter how dark the night. Help us to trust You more. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
