The first several years after Roger Federer’s maiden major in 2003 were marked with constant glory for the great Swiss. He dominated Wimbledon and the hard court majors, amassing a remarkable 13 majors by the end of 2008. But the coveted Career Grand Slam had eluded him. In this episode, Andre, Vansh, and Owen discuss Federer’s run to the 2009 Roland-Garros title. This year began inauspiciously for Federer compared to some previous years, but after claiming a big title in Madrid, Federer was ready to chase the trophy in Paris yet again. We talk about the many hurdles that he had to face — close matches with Acasuso and del Potro, THAT forehand against Haas, and the historic pressure of what he was trying to achieve. What did this title mean to Federer? In which moments did he have to dig in the most? And how has this run increased his legacy? All this and much more on the latest episode of Tennis and Bagels!
