The topic of Gear Selection comes up more often than just about anything else in Gun Culture. This would be a good thing if we could just come to terms about why we were having these talks, share common ground about qualifications, and do so with honesty about the subject. But that isn't always the case. 

More often than not, debates over gear can be quickly settled out on the field, or in a competition, and so forth. The problem, however, arises when trying to determine the criteria involved. 

So, as it stands, the subject about gear itself may be stupid, but it has a boon, one necessary to the foundation of our society.
