What did we learn from the NBA Cup? Rodney joins and discuss a few takeaways from Cup action.
The Spurs look like they are ahead of schedule, but would you rather have their young guard rotation or the Sixers? Speaking of guards, who are the best PGs in the league, where does NBA Cup champ, Jalen Brunson rank. Then we move onto the Lakers, is this secretly the same team we saw in last year’s playoffs? Luka is the ____ of James Harden’s!!??! How does a team have to built around Luka to win? Plus a lot more jokes, fun, and insight.
In this episode, Derrick and Rodney revisit Derrick's early season top 4 rankings, for each conference, a quarter into the season. Plus individual player and overall team surprises. Just a few topics you'll hear discussed:
The NBA is back and brought to you by gambling!
First show of the season, I had to have Jon join me. I was lucky enough to be on his first NBA episode of the season, check out "Bad Wins and Good Losses" NBA Season Opener episode from 10/23 (opening night). On that show we give our award predictions and selected our top 4 teams in each conference, with some sleep picks included.
On this episode we go rapid fire and give our initial thoughts on select teams, some of the same team discussed from "Bad Wins and Good Losses" and a few others. Included in the rapid fire are some VERY early season takeaways that might have swayed our thoughts. Lastly, towards the end of the show (1hr & 11min mark), we deep dive this NBA gamble scandal and pinpoint where this all went wrong, not just within the NBA but access to gambling as a whole.
Lengthy discussion but a very good one that goes a bit deeper than hoops.
Jon had me on his show, "Bad Wins and Good Losses", all playoffs long so to wrap up the season I had to bring him through.
Topics include use recapping The Finals and what could've been in game 7... or not? And then we discuss the things that surprised us most this season.
The draft is happening as we record, so naturally we look ahead to next year. Highlighting trades that have already happen, ponder ones that still might happen, and in each conference pinpoint the teams that should feel like a conference championship is theirs for the taking.
Taylor (TW: @papercash) joins the pod again to discuss the impact of the of both conference finals and The Finals preview:
Friend of the show, Taylor (TW: @papercash) is back to review the crazy playoffs to date and look forward to the conference and NBA Finals.

It has been a while but I'm back and joined with Jon to talk all things NBA in in the, roughly month since the last episode.
In this episode we talk:
The Lakers and Mavs made a blockbuster trade: Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to LA for Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers' 2029 first-round pick. The Jazz will also receive Jalen Hood-Schifino, the LA Clippers' 2025 second-round pick and the Mavs 2025 second-round selection.
But why at 2am without telling any other teams and whose idea was this? Did the Lakers get better or do the Mavs sneakily provide a better immediate fit for AD?
Derrick and Rodney discuss!
This is an open letter to the NBA with good friend Justin (TW: @JDanso18 if he ever returns) to talk about the state of the NBA. It seems like so much is changing with the game we love, ratings are down, style of play is... questionable at times, amongst other things. But is it as bad as everyone says? Well, yes and no. We share what we currently like and don't and what we think the really problems are. And there are some real issues, after all, where there is smoke there is fire.
1v1 is back! There's a few rule changes we have some ideas about and some changes to the NBA season/post-season we need to discuss:
But to start, we discuss a few surprise teams we were low or high on in our last EP to preview the season. And how unpredictable is the west right now?
