What happens when a doctor becomes so committed to saving other people that he stops protecting his own health?
Dr. James C. Wittig is an orthopedic oncology surgeon who built his career treating children and adults with bone and soft-tissue cancers, performing complex limb-sparing surgeries, training under pioneers in orthopedic oncology, and even serving as a first responder at Ground Zero after 9/11. But after years of demanding surgical schedules, limited sleep, enormous responsibility, and pushing his body to perform, his own health eventually demanded his attention.
In this episode of the One Percent Doctor Podcast, Dr. Wittig and Adam Lamb have a candid conversation about physician burnout, sleep, stress management, peak performance, meditation, prayer, cardiovascular health, physician wellness, work-life balance, and the habits doctors often overlook while caring for everyone else.
This conversation is especially important for physicians, surgeons, residents, medical students, healthcare professionals, and high achievers who believe they can keep pushing indefinitely. Dr. Wittig shares what he would change if he could go back 10 years, why recovery matters just as much as performance, and why being your best physician starts with becoming your healthiest self.
You’ll Learn:
→ Dr. Wittig explains how a blue-collar childhood, EMT experience, NYU Medical School, Columbia residency, and mentorship from pioneers in orthopedic oncology shaped his career caring for cancer patients.
→ You’ll hear what decades of demanding surgical schedules taught him about physician wellness, sleep deprivation, stress, cardiovascular health, exercise, nutrition, recovery, and the danger of feeling invincible.
→ The conversation explores practical approaches to peak performance for doctors, including meditation, prayer, heart-rate variability, wearables, intentional recovery, neurofeedback, and creating moments of calm during demanding workdays.
→ Dr. Wittig also shares his evolving vision for Mandala Medical Group and a more holistic approach focused on brain, body, soul, spirit, wellness, longevity, performance, and supporting people through difficult healthcare journeys.

If losing weight changed your face, or you’re tired of constantly repeating facial filler treatments, there may be another option worth understanding.
In this episode of the 1% Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb sits down with Los Angeles facial plastic surgeon Dr. Neal Deot to explore facial fat grafting, facial volume loss, GLP-1 weight loss, facial rejuvenation, fillers, facelifts, rhinoplasty, and the changing world of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Deot explains how facial fat transfer uses fat taken from another area of your own body to restore lost facial volume and create a more natural-looking result. He also discusses why patients experiencing facial hollowing after significant weight loss may be searching for alternatives to traditional dermal fillers, how nanofat and growth-factor-rich material can be incorporated into treatment, and why the relationship between a plastic surgeon and patient matters just as much as surgical technique.
If you’re considering facial rejuvenation, facial fat grafting, dermal fillers, a facelift, or another cosmetic procedure, this conversation will help you understand the options, questions to ask, and philosophy behind choosing the right physician.
You’ll Learn:
Why major weight loss and GLP-1 medications can make pre-existing facial volume loss more noticeable, and the options facial plastic surgeons may use to address it.
How facial fat grafting works, including where fat can be harvested, how it is transferred into the face, and why Dr. Deot describes it as a natural alternative to repeated filler treatments.
The differences between facial fillers, facial fat transfer, and surgical facial rejuvenation, including why jawline aging may involve more than simply adding volume.
How Dr. Deot uses nanofat and cell-assisted lipotransfer concepts in his approach to facial rejuvenation, along with the importance of patient communication, follow-up care, and realistic expectations.

Your medical practice may generate strong income, but is it actually building transferable enterprise value?
In this episode of the 1% Life Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb speaks with Sonia Ponnusamy of Aspire Physician Solutions about medical-practice valuation, healthcare private equity, EBITDA growth, and the steps physicians should take before selling a clinic. Sonia explains why two practices with similar revenue can receive dramatically different offers, how provider concentration lowers valuation, and why reaching approximately $2 million in EBITDA can change the type of deal available to a physician owner.
You will also learn how private equity firms evaluate medical practices, what separates a platform acquisition from a bolt-on deal, and why rollover equity can create a valuable “second bite of the apple.” The conversation covers growth strategies such as adding higher-margin ancillary services, opening satellite offices, improving revenue-cycle management, diversifying payer mix, recruiting additional providers, and reducing dependence on one physician.
This episode is for doctors, clinic owners, healthcare entrepreneurs, and physician groups that want to scale, prepare for an eventual sale, evaluate private equity offers, or turn years of clinical work into long-term and potentially generational wealth.
What You’ll Learn:
→ How medical practices are valued: Discover how adjusted EBITDA, specialty demand, provider concentration, payer mix, clinical reputation, and practice size can affect the multiple a buyer is willing to pay.
→ How to prepare for a future sale: Learn why clean financial records, accurate reporting, diversified revenue, effective use of mid-level providers, and lower key-person risk can make a practice more attractive.
→ How private equity deals work: Understand platform acquisitions, bolt-on practices, rollover equity, control rights, preferred or subordinate equity, investment timelines, and the importance of choosing a healthcare-specialist partner.
→ How physicians can increase enterprise value: Explore practical growth opportunities involving ancillary services, geographic expansion, physician recruitment, revenue-cycle improvements, acquisitions, and operational infrastructure.

What if drinking more water is not the same as actually hydrating your cells?
In this episode of the 1% Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb sits down with health entrepreneur John Jubilee to explore intracellular hydration, cellular health, inflammation, energy, strength, recovery, metabolism, and healthy aging.
John shares how chronic knee pain, high blood pressure, weight gain, and the frustration of feeling older at 37 pushed him to investigate why drinking a gallon of water every day was not making him feel better. He explains his “cells like sponges, not marbles” framework, the 12-step hydration protocol he says changed his life, and the daily habits he teaches around water, electrolytes, movement, sugar, and white flour.
You will also hear the story behind John’s claim that he became stronger and healthier at 65, the unusual 555-pound strength feat that surprised an elite powerlifter, and why he believes intracellular hydration can support athletic performance, recovery, energy, and longevity.
This conversation is for physicians, athletes, health-conscious adults, and anyone struggling with fatigue, chronic pain, poor recovery, low energy, or feeling older than they should.
This episode presents personal experiences and health claims from the guest. It is not medical advice, and several claims discussed require independent clinical validation. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before changing your hydration, electrolyte, supplement, exercise, or medical routine.
What You’ll Learn:
→ Why water intake and cellular hydration are different: John explains why he believes drinking more water alone may not improve intracellular hydration and uses his “marbles versus sponges” analogy to describe healthy cells.
→ The personal story behind the protocol: Hear how joint pain, hypertension, weight gain, and being unable to play football with his children led John to investigate cellular health and hydration.
→ The first three habits in his 12-step system: John discusses consistent water intake with sodium, potassium, and magnesium, morning movement before eating, and reducing sugar and white flour.
→ How hydration may relate to strength and recovery: John shares his experiences with athletic performance, soft-tissue health, inflammation, biological aging, and the strength achievement he completed at age 65.

What if healing is not just about fixing symptoms, but learning how to live in a way that helps your body, mind, heart, home, and community come back into alignment?
In this episode of The One Percent Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb sits down with Dr. Jessyca Franco-Chavez, a naturopathic doctor, integrative medicine practitioner, and founder of Desert Ritual House of Medicine. Together, they explore root-cause medicine, nervous system regulation, indigenous healing wisdom, grounding, breathwork, brain-heart coherence, food as medicine, spiritual healing, and the power of creating daily rituals that support true wellness.
Dr. Jessyca shares her personal journey from grief after losing her mother to becoming what she calls a guardian of medicine. She explains why healing often requires more than labs, prescriptions, and diagnoses. It also requires stillness, self-love, nature, community, nourishment, and a deeper relationship with your own body.

Highlights:

Looking younger without looking fake is one of the biggest goals in facial plastic surgery, but choosing the wrong surgeon can leave you with visible scars, unnatural results, or years of regret.
In this episode of the 1% Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb sits down with world-renowned facial plastic surgeon Dr. Harvey “Chip” Cole to talk about facelifts, eyelid surgery, Botox, facial aging, confidence, and the truth about natural-looking cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Cole shares how a broken nose as a teenager sparked his interest in medicine, how he became quadruple board certified, and why deep knowledge of facial anatomy matters when it comes to procedures like facelifts, blepharoplasty, Botox, laser resurfacing, and facial rejuvenation. He also explains his “inside out” approach, a scar-minimizing facial surgery technique designed to lift and restore the face while keeping results natural.
This conversation is for anyone considering a facelift, eyelid lift, Botox, facial cosmetic surgery, or anti-aging treatment, as well as young physicians who want to understand specialization, patient trust, and long-term success in medicine.
You’ll learn:
→ Why board certification alone is not enough when choosing a facial plastic surgeon.
→ Dr. Cole explains how facial aging works, why the brow, eyelids, cheeks, and skin must be treated as connected units, and how poor technique can create an angry, pulled, or unnatural look.
→ Why doing smaller cosmetic tweaks earlier may help people age more naturally over time.
→ Why confidence, mental health, faith, fitness, and facial appearance are all connected through the idea of inside out balance.

Most men wait until something breaks before they finally take their health seriously. But erectile dysfunction, low energy, poor sleep, blood pressure issues, prostate problems, and sexual performance struggles are often signs that something deeper may be going on.
In this episode of the 1% Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb sits down with Dr. Arthur “Bud” Burnett, a Johns Hopkins urologic surgeon and men’s health expert, to talk about erectile dysfunction, Viagra, Cialis, nitric oxide, prostate cancer recovery, testosterone, blood work, mental health, performance anxiety, and what men need to know about protecting their health after 40.
This conversation is for men who want to live longer, lead better, improve sexual health, protect their relationships, and stop avoiding the doctor. It is also for wives, partners, and families who want to better understand men’s health and help the men they love take action. Dr. Burnett explains why ED is not just a bedroom problem, why pills are not always the full answer, and why proactive health screenings can reveal silent problems before they become serious.
Highlights:
→ You’ll learn why erectile dysfunction can be connected to cardiovascular health, blood flow, stress, anxiety, hormones, and lifestyle, not just sexual performance.
→ Dr. Burnett shares what men should understand about Viagra, Cialis, nitric oxide, daily low-dose tadalafil, and why medical guidance matters before relying on quick online fixes.
→ Adam and Dr. Burnett discuss the importance of blood work, testosterone, prostate health, blood pressure, sleep, diet, alcohol, smoking, exercise, and mental health for men who want to stay strong as they age.
→ You’ll also hear why authentic manhood is not about pretending everything is fine, but about taking responsibility for your health, your family, your relationships, and your future.

Why do so many postpartum moms feel exhausted, anxious, foggy, inflamed, or unable to lose weight after having a baby?
In this episode of the 1% Doctor Podcast, Adam Lamb sits down with Dr. Lauren Davis to uncover what is really happening inside a woman’s body during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery. This conversation goes far beyond basic “bounce back” advice and explains why new moms may need far more protein, calories, micronutrients, gut support, and nervous system regulation than they are often told.
Dr. Lauren shares how gut health, leaky gut, celiac disease, inflammation, omega fatty acid deficiencies, glutathione, detox pathways, breast milk quality, and postpartum hormone changes can all play a major role in how moms feel after birth. She also explains why breastfeeding moms may be under-eating, why lactation cookies may not be the answer, and why postpartum anxiety, fatigue, brain fog, and autoimmune issues may be connected to deeper nutrient and gut imbalances.
This episode is for new moms, expecting moms, husbands, health coaches, doctors, and anyone who wants to better understand postpartum recovery, breastfeeding nutrition, functional medicine, and how to help moms truly heal after birth.
Highlights:
→ You’ll learn why breastfeeding moms may need significantly more protein and micronutrients than most people realize, and how under-eating can lead to fatigue, brain fog, poor wound healing, low milk supply, and long-term metabolic issues.
→ Dr. Lauren explains how gut permeability, inflammation, celiac disease, food intolerances, and the microbiome may impact postpartum health, breast milk, and even a baby’s digestion, allergies, and colic.
→ This episode breaks down why “bounce back” culture can push moms into calorie restriction, over-exercising, intermittent fasting, and nutrient depletion at the exact time their bodies need deep nourishment.
→ You’ll also hear how functional medicine looks at postpartum anxiety, depression, omega fatty acid deficiency, detox capacity, glutathione, microplastics, breast milk toxins, and nervous system regulation in a more complete way.
