Carol has been in education for 40 years, and currently is the principal of Frederick Douglass Elementary School in Seaford, Delaware. She is a National Distinguished Principal and a Terrel H. Bell award winner. Most notably, Carol turned around her school from being one of the lowest performing in the state on the brink of state takeover to being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, National Distinguished ESEA School and a school of Continued Excellence.
