This episode looks at Psalm 2:10, “Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.” In light of everything that has come before this, we should live in wisdom and heed God’s warning. He is King; we are not. Our plans for “freedom” will actually lead us into captivity to sin.

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:9, “You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” Jesus judges justly against sin and evil, but for those who are found in Christ through faith the rod becomes a comfort.

This episode looks at Psalm 2:8, “Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.” We rejoice that Jesus is king over all, and we ask God to make earth now united across racial and ethnic lines just as things are in heaven/will be for eternity.

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:7, “I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.” We rejoice at this thick gospel promise, cited in Acts 13:33 and Hebrews 1:5, which promises us the glory of our fully God, fully man Messiah. God’s Anointed One stands as the perfect mediator between God and man, and we thank God for his grace in sending his Son to die for sinners.

This episode looks at Psalm 2:6, ““As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”” The nations are raging, but God laughs, looks at sinners with wrath, and says, “It doesn’t matter. Jesus is King, and that’s it.” We can praise God that no matter what, Jesus sits on the throne!

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:5, “Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,” God will judge sin. His wrath burns against those who rage against him. Though he is patient and desires all to come to repentance, he must punish evil. We respond with thankfulness for his patience with us as well as asking him to teach us to remember his power and hatred of sin.

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:4, “He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.” Sinners make plans on earth, but the King of heaven and earth sits comfortably on his throne in the heavens. He mocks the foolishness of sinners who think they can find satisfaction under a different yoke than the “easy, light” yoke of Christ.

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:3, ““Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”” We now see the content of the nations raging from 2:1–2. They despise the yoke of Christ upon them, and they want to throw it away from themselves. We should not presume that we can just cast God away and get away with it. We should instead ask for grace to love Christ’s easy yoke.

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:2, “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,” The New Testament preachers explicitly took this Psalm as a prophecy about Jesus, and so should we! How have we seen patterns of sin in our life rejecting the kingship of Christ and pursuing satisfaction elsewhere?

This episode takes a look at Psalm 2:1, “Why do the nations rage and the people plot in vain?” This Psalm as a whole looks at people raging against God, God laughing at their foolishness, the divine Messiah promised, and a call for the foolish nations to repent.
