Life isn’t easy. We experience problems and setbacks everyday. But during the hardest parts of life, when the bottom seems to fall out, where do we turn? Although God doesn’t offer any easy solutions, he does offer himself and his presence as an anchor of hope.

Where do you turn when it seems like life itself is kicking your butt?

Psalm 1 compares a righteous person to a fruitful tree and a wicked person to chaff, and the psalmist contrasts the behaviors leading to each. In our fast moving world, with lots of distractions that pull us away from the things of God and steer us into the possibility of chaff. How do we get on and keep on track in pursuing the place of righteousness of which the psalmist speaks? This message makes it clear that an individual must make a conscious decision to partake of essential nourishment from God’s Word and embrace specific disciplines that effectively awaken the soul.

What kind of person do you want to be? When people have to stand and talk about you when you’re gone, what do you want them to say? Do you realize that’s up to you? What if you decided to be—extraordinary?

Chances are your greatest regret can be traced back to a decision where your body wanted something that your heart knew was wrong. An appetite was raging. You saw something or someone you wanted—even though he, she, or it wasn’t healthy for you. But you gave in to your body anyway. You yielded to the little kings that want to replace the Creator King who calls you to live from the inside out. What do you do when your body wants what your heart knows is wrong?
