Curtis Knipes turned Pro at the age of 19 with a handicap of +4.4. Before turning Pro, he qualified for the 148th Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club. His amateur career was filled with successfully defending his Essex Amateur Championship title, becoming the England Champion of Champions.

Also, in 2016 he won the Lytham Trophy with a score of 284 to win by seven shots.
